Last night’s classroom looked a little different from the usual driving lesson! 🚗➡️❤️

I completed First Aid Training with the Gloucestershire Driving Instructor Association, including CPR and AED awareness, as part of my ongoing CPD.

As a driving instructor, you never know what situations you may come across on the road, so having the confidence to help in an emergency is an important skill to have.

It was also really interesting to link this back to learner driver education, especially as CPR and incident awareness questions can now appear in the Theory Test.

Learning doesn’t stop once you qualify — the goal is always to keep developing knowledge and skills to better support pupils on and off the road.

🚗 From First Steps to 34 Passes… What a Journey!

April 2023 ➡️ April 2026
Three years ago, I took that first step to retrain as a driving instructor — and I couldn’t have done it without the brilliant support of my trainer, Diane Simpson 🙌

August 2023 having sat 2 out of the 3 exams. I was out on the road as a trainee instructor (PDI), and in November 2023 passed my final assessment to be one a fully qualified Driving Instructor (ADI) .

January 2024… my first pupil pass ✅

Fast forward to today…
34 passes later 🎉

But it’s never just about the number.
Every single pass represents:
✔️ Someone building confidence
✔️ Someone pushing through nerves
✔️ Someone gaining independence for life

That’s what it’s all about.
I’m incredibly grateful to every pupil who has trusted me to be part of their journey — and excited for all the future passes still to come 🚀

Well, what can I say. I've been so looking forward to being able to announce this.... Taylor, you absolutely smashed your driving test.

Lovely feedback from the examiner.

Right from the off you put in every effort in every lesson. Your road knowledge of Gloucester is amazing, we came to the rescue to help push a broken down car of the main road which received a mention on the radio and we've been out on lots of adventures around the Shire.

Your manoeuvres, observations, mirrors and awareness is to be called out because you nailed them all.

I'm going to slightly amend the words of Oasis which we had playing in the car ...

Today gonna be the day.... I get my full driving licence - and you did.

Congratulations to Ethan who passed his driving test the first time on Monday with just 3 driving faults.

It's been a pleasure to be out on the road with you, you put 110% effort in every lesson and your private practice out with Mum in your car was easy to see in our lessons as you built up your driving skills.

Keep up the high standard you set yourself and look forward to seeing you out and about around the Shire.

Congratulations to Bella for passing her driving test today.

Second pass of the year and a double too as one passed yesterday, Friday and now another on Saturday.

Enjoy your car, it's going to be so handy for when you're out and about traveling whilst your studying and out to do your practical zoological work.

Special thanks to instructor Andy near to your University for his support and advice on what to work on.

Keep up with those mirror, blind spot checks and enjoy the hill starts.
