It's Gloucester Goes Retro time again! Come visit us tomorrow (Saturday 24th August) in the 'Restoration Village'. We have a selection of cars from all ages on display at the bottom of Westgate Street.

We also have demonstrations throughout the day based at the The Folk of Gloucester museum covering;

-Coachbuilding (11am & 2pm)
-Paint process and polishing (12pm & 3pm)
-3D Scanning & 3D Printing (throughout the day)

Gloucester Goes Retro is tomorrow!

Vintage fashion, retro music festival, hundreds of classic cars, all in one fabulous FREE family day out!

You will find famous car brands from yesteryear including Aston Martin, Jensen, Bentley, Triumph, Morris and Alvis to name just a few. For music and dance enthusiasts, visit the Mariners Square Stage where you'll be serenaded by a host of retro acts and get your boogie on with swing dancing. Go and join the National Waterways Museum Gloucester for a day of nautical retro fun. Book a vintage boat trip on their historic little ship Queen Boadicea II or have a go at canoeing and kayaking on the water. Iconic 124 year old schooner, Kathleen & May, will be open to the public from 11:00 - 17:00!

There are also the Best Dressed Competitions and the Colin Organ Photography Competition!

We are recruiting! Vacancy for: Classic Car Panel Beater/Coachbuilder

We are looking for a Classic Car Panel Beater/Coachbuilder to join our team after recent expansion to suit customer demand.

Retroclassic Engineering specialise in the restoration and repair of a wide range of vintage, classic, retro and future classic cars, along with carrying out bespoke modifications and ‘restomod’ conversions.

This role is based at our premises in Moreton Valance, Gloucestershire which is located just 5 minutes from the M5 Junction 12/13.

We are looking for candidates with strong experience working in a similar role within the automotive/classic car restoration industry, with a proven track record in the repair and restoration of a variety of exotic/classic vehicles to the highest of standards (premium brands experience is a distinct advantage).

Your responsibilities will include;

• Completing restoration standard corrosion/welding repairs to a wide variety of vehicles
• Panel fabrication for restoration projects where new panels are not available
• Carrying out conversions and modifications to a wide range of classic vehicles to the highest of standards including ‘restomod’ projects
• Rectification of vehicle body damage and general body repair works
• Ensuring all repairs are protected to the highest anti-corrosion standards
• Working independently to meet strict project deadlines without constant supervision, managing your own project efficiently including producing parts lists and completion of detailed job records
• Ensuring parts for your project are ordered in a pro-active manner to allow projects to be completed efficiently

Key Skills for this role include;

• Experience in replacement of pre-fabricated repair panels
• Experience in sheet metalwork and panel fabrication/shaping to a restoration standard
• Corrosion repair and prevention to a restoration standard
• MIG Welding to a restoration standard

Desirable skills for this role include;

• Experience with an English wheel machine, Pullmax and other restoration panel shaping equipment
• Experience in Lead loading/filling
• Panel shaping and filler work repair to a restoration standard, blocking panels and prep ready for paint
• Gas welding, TIG Welding capability in mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium
• Fixture jig experience (Celette preferably)

All candidates are expected to;

• Have a keen eye for detail, take pride in the quality of their work, and have a strong interest in classic cars
• Have at least 5 years experience in a relevant field within the automotive industry and hold industry qualifications, be comfortable working to strict deadlines/target hours and able to follow detailed work instructions
• Have good communication and IT skills, a positive ‘can-do’ attitude, a strong work ethic, and be punctual/organised
• Maintain a clean and organised work environment
• Have a positive approach to learning new skills and working as part of a team
• Hold a Full UK Driving Licence

This role is a full-time position working Monday – Friday 8am - 5pm, overtime available

All candidates must live within a reasonable commuting distance of our premises in Moreton Valance, Gloucestershire, GL2 7LZ, or be willing to re-locate (must have UK work authorisation and already be UK based).

Salary: £33,000 - £45,000 per annum, dependent on experience.

MGB GT in for some mechanical works - arrived as a non-runner but thankfully it was just a bit of dodgy wiring stopping her running. This one should be back out on the road and purring in the not too distant future 👌
