A refreshing change … 30 years older than the 2005 very corroded / holed MG TF in previous post! What a beautiful 1995 MGF. Solid, great subframes, great colour. Nice clean MOT, no advisories. Well looked after MGFs are so much stronger than later TFs and are a great investment.
Our 24k MGF Trophy uncovered for a new battery, new fuel pump and a valet. Just needs a days work to finish off then she can be MOTed.
One for next week …. A side exit exhaust on an MG TF. Not seen one like this before. Wants putting back to standard plus a few other jobs sorting.

Blimey … some poorly poorly cars in lately Health Checks and all needing excessive work far more than the cars worth.
Red TF (first 10 pics) failed MOT on rear subframe .. correct and failed on rear brakes … correct BUT no mention of subframe mounts, hole under petrol tank, holes in sills. To be fair we leaned on a sill putting it on ramp and it caved in but shouldn’t the MOT see this and the massive oil leak dripping on floor when running. DISTURBINGLY, looking at the bigger picture, THIS HAD AN MOT PASS LAST YEAR !!!!
Blue TF (last 5 pics), sills just as poor. One prev sill patch just peeled off. Rear shocker bolt snapped. Depressing stuff.

This Trophy passed its MOT last year with sill corrosion down as advisories. They have certainly corroded a lot in just 12 months .. 🤔 .. 3 buckled wheels, an array of yellow panels (such a difficult colour to match), tyres not great, needs brakes etc etc … Sadly too much is needed on this car for it to be returned to the road which is such a shame as the engine is a lovely quiet one.

Our next project ‘Orange’ … a 45k 2008 LE500 that is shall we say is somewhat rusty and in need of some loving. The strip down has commenced and the MGFnTFBITZ underbody preservation begins next week.
New subframes and all new suspension are being prepared ready to bolt straight on. Cam belt / new clutch .. rude not too whilst engine and gearbox are out.

Nice very bright progress made on customers ‘not checking a car over properly before buying it’ Le Mans Green TF in this short week. (See earlier post for how this looked).
Underbody / boot floor / spare wheel well rust treated / zinc primed & colour matched Raptor painted. Bright orange powder coated subframe with all the bits and new bolts. Extg top arms and shocks reused, rest is new. Looks heaps better than it did.

Sorry long boring post about not checking a car over properly before buying it !!!!

Customer recently purchased this Le Mans Green MG TF then brought it in to us for a Health Check …. He was not a happy bunny when he left !!!! Private Sale … Anyway he decided after much deliberation to bite the bullet and get it sorted.

Rear corner accident damage and bent boot floor / Has orange powder coated rear subframe with red ARB rubbing against top arm and wearing chamfer in shocker bolt (shockers fitted wrong way around) / Front subframe badly spray painted red, so nothing like a match at all to the rear and it is bloody corroded and holed …. Arhhhhhh / Stainless under car pipes leaking as securing bolts murdered up / Remedy poor radiator fit / Fog lights screwed through bumper / Exhaust tail pipe missing, it fell off and is lost as no ‘U’ clamp fitted / Poor sill ends / Bolts too short on compliance bush / Bolts missing out of subframe mounts / Stainless bolts holding front mounts in place / Engine is idling all over the place, temp sensor playing up, lambda not behaving, IACV readings very erratic …. and so it goes on and on and on …. Yay …. Be positive and keep smiling 😊 … Front subframe off and an orange powder coated one is readied with new wishbones and orange braces so at least it all now matches / rear corner damage wouldn’t pull as it was too mashed so cut out all bent bits and Greg has done a superb job welding in a replacement outer, inner and part floor / sill ends welded / underbody all prepared & rust treated … it’s all getting Le Mans Green Raptored next week. Still loads and loads to do but some good positive headway and not too bad a start.

Front and rear subframe refresh sorted. Arms removed, freed off so adjust easy for 4 wheel align, treated, painted and refitted. New exhaust & down-pipe. Orig cat had new fl**ge welded on. Waxoyled inside sills and inner wings before wheel arch liners put back. Underneath was already ok, just a bit of spot rust treating and a light matching tickle in places. 4 wheel aligned Friday. MOTed Sat. Ready to go back down south.

Note to self …. program in more time to concentrate on our own cars … so so busy on looking after yours here at MGFnTFBITZ, we tend to leave ours and the proverbial ‘when we get a minute’ takes over and we all know how that ends up. So our gorgeous 23k mile Trophy has undergone a rear end refresh. Arms off / adjusters freed off ready for alignment, hubs off, all painted before refitting. Powder coated compliance arms with new poly bushes fitted. Subframe painted, new stainless exhaust (they do sound nice the X Part ones .. sensible but you know it’s there). Front end done some months back and now the rear matches. With it being so low miles and dry stored / well looked after, the subs were already very good but this treatment just finishes it off. It looks bloody great even tho I say so myself. Cam belt done, such a lovely, quiet engine. Still work to do and further time has already been set aside, but this is a big step in the right direction. 5 freshly powder coated alloys with Falken tyres await.
