Summer’s over so get peeling! At the end of the hot sunny season you can remove your Peelable Glass Paint coatings by picking at a corner until you can get some coating between your fingers, then peel away.

If the coating is a bit thin and patchy and has dried out it won’t come off in one complete satisfying peel but can tear at the weak spots, but just keep picking and peeling.

TOP TIP: if you remove the paint coating when it is rehydrated by rain or morning dew then the thin patchy sections will stick back together again and won’t tear so you can get the full easy peel.

Or you can rehydrate the coating with water and a cloth or sponge to make it nice and peelable again. If the coating has really dried out, leave the cloth or sponge on the coating and the water will soak into it making it soft, stretchy and peelie 😀

Can I use a sprayer? Yes but they can get messy!

Sprayers are great for covering large areas quickly or tricky items such as trellis, but can be difficult to use and you can get a lot of wastage, especially if you’re spraying outside and it’s windy – the paint will go everywhere the wind goes and can escape protective sheet coverings.

You can use a pump-up sprayer but our Wood Paint is quite thick so would need watering down by up to 50% max, which is perfect if you want a wood stain effect.

A cheap electric sprayer works really well and you can use our Wood Paint neat in them but you may need to select the right nozzle setting for more expensive models.

Many companies use our Wood Paint in a professional sprayer system but you do need a lot of expensive kit, a spray booth and skill – or you can just hire a professional paint sprayer for a perfect finish.

I’ve been happily pottering around in the garden with the fabulous Potting Bench.

It’s light enough to move around the garden to where you want to work but strong enough to last.

Painted in our Marshland Green Wood Paint to protect the timber from the rain and everything else that the British weather throws at it, the paint coating also makes it so much easier to clean after a heavy potting session!

Idyllic stairway fully renovated by in their epic home renovation!

Louise painted our Egret White Wall Paint on the walls and wooden sections of the stairwell, contrasting beautifully with the Beech Wood Paint that she painted on the steps, handrails and newel post caps.

The whole look is bright and inviting with the subtle warmth of Egret White creating a space that maximises the light.

Now the hot summer sun has gone, if you’ve been using Peelable Glass Paint to shade your greenhouse or rooms, here are our removal tips.
1. Pick & Peel
At the end of the season, pick a corner of the paint coating until you can grab it between your fingers & peel away.

The coating will either come off in one lovely satisfying peel or may tear at weak sections where the paint coating is thin and patchy. If this happens just pick & peel again.

2. Rehydrate & Peel
It can be easiest to peel the coating off in the morning when it’s still damp with dew.

If the paint coating has dried out from constant hot sun or over time, rehydrate the coating with water, applying with a cloth, sponge or hose pipe to soak. Leave for about 10 minutes then pick & peel away.

3. Paint & Peel
If your paint coating has become hardened by time or the hot sun, the resin will have dried so you won’t be able to do an easy peel. It may become brittle & only come off in little pieces.

If you have any Peelable Glass Paint leftover, paint a fresh full coat on top of the old, leave for 2-3 days for the paint to cure, form a coating & bond to the coat underneath, then pick & peel removing both coats at the same time.

4. Break the Bond & Peel
Peelable Glass Paint resin is made from 100% recycled plastic giving it the unique peelable quality. However, it’s also a very durable resin so it left on it will continue to harden into a tough coating that will stick firmly to the surface & last for years.

If your paint coating has been left on for a long period of time or been baked on by long periods of hot direct sun then it will have dried out & hardened to the point that you won’t be able to peel it or use any of the rehydrating or overpainting tricks to remove it.

Apply an alkaline solution to the paint coating like a household surface bleach spray.

The alkalinity disrupts & weakens the resin’s bond to the surface. Leave for 5-10 minutes to work then wipe it off with a cloth, or this often enables you to peel the coating off. If it’s on glass you can use a paint scraper but don’t use them on plastic panes as they can scratch the surface.

Picking the wrong roller sleeve can totally ruin your paint coating! The roller sleeve you need to use will vary depending on the paint you’re using.

Here are our simple tips for picking the right sleeve for our water-based Wood Paint.

You can use a roller to apply our wood paint, either a small radiator roller or larger standard size depending on what surface area you’re painting.

Larger pile sleeves can be a bit ‘hairy’ and leave a mottled bumpy coating.

Plastic textured sleeves will leave a stippled effect with wood paint.

Foam sleeves are pretty good with wood paint but can also leave a slight stipple. They can work well with our Translucent Wood Paints as they behave a bit more like a wood stain.

A medium pile sleeve can also work with translucent wood paints or wood stains as you’re working the paint into the wood surface.

Our wood paint is a high-performance water-based paint so for the best and smoothest finish to your paint coating, use a low nap or short pile smooth microfibre roller sleeve.

Usually the packaging will tell you what paint type and surface the sleeve is best suited for.

TOP TIPS: a professional decorator recommends Two Fussy Blokes roller sleeves as they give a fantastic finish.

You can also use a ‘laying off’ brush to smooth out paint after rollering to give a lovely smooth finish.

As the season shifts towards colder, darker months, embrace comforting colours that help spaces feel warm, grounded and cocooning.
