A family-run business in Lennoxtown is asking for a bit of extra support during the ongoing roadworks. (Please see attached picture of the original post from Charmaine at Campsie soft Play)
My little girl loves spending time at Campsie Soft Play — it keeps her entertained, lets her burn off some energy in a secure environment, and makes for a much less stressful visit for parents too. If you’re looking for something to do with the kids, it’s well worth a visit, and you can even treat yourself to lunch while you’re there from Charmaine’s brilliant menu. If you can give her page a like/follow and a share if possible to help support her to your friends and family who might be wanting a morning or afternoon of kids entertainment to bring them along to Lennoxtown for a few hours fun to run off some energy. Check out Campsie soft plays page for all details.
All of the local businesses along the main street are feeling the impact of the renovation works, which have been ongoing since November 2025. The main phase began on 5 January 2026 and was originally expected to finish at the end of June 2026, but East Dunbartonshire Council announced at the end of last month that the works have now been extended until the end of August 2026.
Personally, based on progress so far and with only a few weeks until the original completion date, and what they still have to do before completion, I’d be surprised if August is achieved — October or November feels more realistic — but I’d be happy to be proved wrong.
From our own experience as a business affected by these works, our fuel and shop sales have dropped dramatically while the bills continue as normal and with no help or compensation available. We’re having to reduce stock because too much is going out of date, and we’ve paused introducing new products because footfall simply isn’t there at the moment. We even had a customer in last week who told us they hadn’t visited since January despite previously coming in once or twice a week to fill up.
We completely understand that some people don’t want to travel through multiple sets of temporary lights and delays, but local businesses really need community support to help get through to the end of this regeneration project.
We truly appreciate everyone who continues to support local, and I’m sure the other businesses in the village feel the same. Every visit makes a difference. It might feel like a small inconvenience now, but as the saying goes: if you don’t use us, you might lose us — and none of us want to see any more village shops disappear.
Please support local where you can ❤️
If any local businesses affected in the village would like to comment there business page, website, or just their business name below 👇 and all we ask is that you as our customers and community can go on and like/follow there pages to show support to them.
