Got a Stihl TS410 in for repair recently. The three studs that hold on the pull start cover were stripped and the customer had tried to use PTFE tape to hold the nuts!! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ
The nuts worked their way loose and stripped the threads. I couldn't get the old studs out, but he knew someone who could. Once they were removed, I ordered new studs and nuts and fitted them. Now running nice just in time for an extension he is building

Got a call out to this pressure washer today. Customer said she switched it on, turned the fuel on, put the choke on but it only ran for a few minutes. I watched as she attempted to start it in front of me. I noticed that she turned the fuel off during the start process. After that, it ran no problem. Correct start process, just one step reversed. Easy fix, happy customer.

A customer brought this chainsaw into the workshop a few weeks ago as he couldn't get the fuel cap off to check if it had fuel in it. He thought it might have been stuck on. It actual fact it was just tightened really tight. I mean, REALLY tight. The reason? The O-ring seal had burst and this was the only way the previous operator could keep fuel in the tank. I ordered a new O-ring kit, which took ages to arrive. Meanwhile, I gave the machine a service, new air filter, new spark plug, set the throttle idle speed and set the tension on the chain. Finally, the O-ring seal was fitted and now ready to return to customer. Happy days. โ›“๏ธ๐Ÿชš๐Ÿ˜

Even when away for a nice relaxing weekend, there's still work to be done. ๐Ÿ˜ด
Caravan door handle had become weathered being sited near to the coast.
Ordered a new one online but it took a couple of attempts to make it fit.
Got there in the end.
Looks a whole lot better now. ๐Ÿ˜

As it's pouring with rain here, and the workshop still needs some roof repairs, I've come inside to do some electrical work. A neighbour handed me the Dyson DC10 cordless vacuum cleaner. He says his wife managed to spill water on it and it hasn't worked since! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
Anyway, they're a bit fiddly to work on, but I got the motor and main PCB stripped out. There was actually still water dripping out the circuit board casing when I first stripped it down. โšก
I left it to dry out and cleaned up the PCB. Rebuilt it and it works again. He was about to splash out ยฃ350 for a new one!!! ๐Ÿ’ท๐Ÿ’ท๐Ÿ’ท

It's great to be able to work on a brand new piece of equipment. ๐Ÿ˜
Customer brought in a new Einhell chainsaw but was unable to set the chain tension. The chain was sitting just off the drive sprocket so it was unable to set and wouldn't have turned if it was started. It was safer to bring it to me rather than just trying to start it.
Filled up the chain oil tank and put new fuel in it and showed the customer how to start it. They're happy now.

This one got me beat this week. ๐Ÿ˜”
It's a Stihl TS480i which has electronic timing to start it. No choke, no carburettor and no spark at the plug due to a faulty ECU. The electronic module isn't cheap and its out of stock at all the retailers I looked at. So it's now back to the customer with a recommendation that it's not economical to repair.

This is the Makita petrol powered saw that I had in for repair last week. It's been serviced with new filters and spark plug and the starter rope has been replaced. Starts and runs well now. Just waiting on the customer to collect it now.

I got this petrol powered saw in the workshop today. I've never worked on a Makita before, but I have to say, it's very well put together. Clever little flap covering the spark plug.
It came in as non runner. First thing I had to sort was the rope start, it was hanging out the recoil starter. Then I changed out the fuel to make sure it was fresh and the correct mixture. Lastly, tinkering about with the carburettor settings while trying to get it to start and it finally burst into life.
I've ordered a service kit, which should be next week before handing it back to the customer. ๐Ÿ˜

It's that time of year again when people are tidying up their gardens, and using power tools to do it. A neighbour of mine was telling me they cut through the mains cable of their Flymo lawnmower. I said that's the type of thing that I can fix. I swapped it out for a new mains cable and now it's working again. Happy customer. ๐Ÿ˜
