Your phone says you're offline. Now what?

When you're exploring rural Scotland, mobile signal can be patchy, particularly in remote parts of the Highlands. 📱

Before setting off each day, it's worth taking a few minutes to:

🗺️ Download your maps for offline use
📍 Save the addresses of campsites and overnight stops
⛽ Check where the next fuel stations are
🔋 Charge your phone and bring a power bank

A little preparation can save a lot of faffing about when you're trying to find your next stop.

Because getting lost can be part of the fun… until you're hungry, it's getting dark and the sat nav has given up.

Golden leaves, misty mountains, crisp walks and those views that make you pull over for another photo.

Autumn is a brilliant time to explore Scotland, whether you're heading north into the Highlands, following the coast or finding a quiet spot to spend the night.

And with a campervan, you can take your time, discover places along the way and have a cosy base to come back to after a day outdoors.

Have you visited Plodda Falls? 🌲

Tucked away near Tomich in the Highlands, Plodda Falls is well worth adding to a Scottish road trip itinerary.

Follow the woodland trails through towering trees and you'll reach the waterfall, which plunges around 46 metres into the gorge below. There's also a viewing platform offering a brilliant perspective from above.

It's the sort of stop that reminds you there's more to Scotland than the famous viewpoints.

One of the easiest mistakes to make on a Scotland road trip is trying to squeeze too much into every day.

Three viewpoints before breakfast. Four beaches before lunch. A castle, a waterfall and somehow a 10km hike before dinner…

Instead, pick a couple of things you really want to see and leave some room around them.

You might find a brilliant little café, spot somewhere worth stopping for a photo or simply decide that the view you're looking at is good enough reason to pull over.

The campervan gives you flexibility. Don't plan all of it away.

October does have one slight disadvantage… the days are getting shorter. 🌙

Which just means your camper needs to work a little harder.

Get out early, make the most of the daylight and then you've got a warm, comfortable place to come back to when the sun disappears.

A proper meal. Somewhere to sit. A warm bed. Maybe a film. Definitely snacks. It's a different kind of campervan trip to summer, but that's rather the point.

Scotland doesn't stop being worth exploring just because the clocks are changing!

After a day exploring, there's something rather nice about coming back to somewhere that's already yours.

Your bags are where you left them. Your food is in the kitchen. Your bed is ready. You don't have to unpack and repack every night.

That's particularly handy when you're moving between different parts of Scotland.

Wake up somewhere new, explore for the day and then come back to your own little space.

That's campervan life. 🌞

A few things to check before your autumn road trip...

Scotland in autumn is beautiful, but a little preparation makes travelling around much easier.

🍂 Check the daylight hours before planning your driving day.
🌧️ Have a look at the forecast and pack layers and waterproofs.
⛽ Keep an eye on fuel, especially when travelling through more remote areas.
📍 Book your overnight stops in advance where possible and check seasonal opening dates.
🗺️ Download your route in case you lose signal along the way.

A little planning means less time worrying about logistics and more time enjoying the places you've come to see.

One of the best things about having a proper kitchen on board is being able to make an actual meal at the end of the day.

Think:
🥘 One-pan pasta
🍛 A big curry
🌶️ Chilli with plenty of toppings
🥔 Jacket potatoes
🍳 A proper cooked breakfast before heading out

The kind of food that's quick to make, fills you up after a day outside and doesn't leave you with a mountain of washing up.

Our campers are fully equipped so you can eat, sleep and chill without having to bring your entire kitchen with you.

Although we're not judging if you bring the snacks.
