In Loving Memory of Sylvia Burkill
15th May 1934 – 9th August 2026

With sadness, we have been asked to announce and share the news that Sylvia died peacefully at Hillcroft Nursing Home on 9th August 2026, aged 92 years.

Sylvia was the loving wife of the late Peter. She was also a much-loved Mum, cherished Gran and a dear friend to many others.

Sylvia will always be remembered for her warmth, kindness and deep love of her family. Sylvia touched the lives of so many people, especially during her time as a PE and swimming teacher. An active member of Garstang United Reformed Church and Garstang coral society. She will be remembered fondly.

Her funeral service will take place at Beetham Hall Crematorium on Wednesday 2nd September at 12.30pm. Following the service, the family extend a warm invitation to join them at The Wheatsheaf in Beetham to continue celebrating the life of this lovely lady.

In Loving Memory of Isabel Doreen Bingham
1st October 1939 – 3rd August 2026

With great sadness, we share the news that Isabel died peacefully in her sleep at home, with her loving family by her side, on Monday 3rd August. She was 86.

Isabel was the dearly loved and devoted wife of Peter Bingham. A much loved and loving mother to Mark and Debbie, and a cherished grandmother of Holly, Lee, Brogan, Lewis and Scarlett.

Isabel will be sorely missed by us all. She was just the best and has left a huge hole in our hearts

Her funeral service will take place at Beetham Hall Crematorium on Wednesday 12th August at 3.30pm.

Following the service, everyone is warmly invited back to Cockerham Parish Hall for light refreshments and to continue remembering Isabel, celebrating her life and sharing stories and memories.

For those attending the service, please come in black, but with a touch of colour.

In Loving Memory of Leslie Newhouse - ‘Les’
26th April 1945 – 9th July 2026

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Leslie "Les" Newhouse, who died peacefully at Chorley District Hospital on Thursday 9th July 2026, following a short illness. He was 81 years old.

Les was the dearly loved husband of Barbara, a devoted father to Sarah, a cherished and proud grandad to Matt and Emma, and a much loved father-in-law to Gary.

A true character, Les spent his working life as a farmer and gamekeeper and was well known and deeply respected throughout the rural community where he lived all his life. He will be remembered not only for his tireless work ethic but also for his dedication to the community he loved. He played a key role in establishing the ‘North West Suffolk Sheep Breeders Club’, served as both a parish councillor and parish council chairman and was actively involved with Whitechapel Young Farmers Club and the Village Hall Committee.

His funeral service will take place at Scorton Methodist Church on Friday 31st July at 11.00am before being laid to rest in the churchyard of St. James Church Whitechapel.

In keeping with Les's character, the family kindly asks that those attending feel no obligation to wear traditional funeral attire. He would have wanted everyone to come as they are, comfortable and relaxed.

Following the burial, family and friends are warmly invited to join them at The Cross Keys to share memories, tell stories and continue celebrating Les's life.

In Loving Memory of Thomas Bradshaw, ‘Tom’

The family have asked us to announce and share the sad news that Tom died suddenly at home on Saturday 11th July 2026, aged 84 years.

Tom was the loving husband of Ann. He was much loved dad, grandad, great-grandad, brother and dear friend to many.

Tom will always be remembered with great love and affection for his warmth, kindness and deep love for his family and friends. He touched the lives of so many with his gentle nature, generous spirit and caring heart. He will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him

His funeral service will take place at Carleton Crematorium on Thursday 30th July at 11.45am. Following the service, the family extend a warm invitation to join them at The Black Bull in Great Eccleston to continue celebrating his life, sharing stories and memories of a wonderful man.

In Loving Memory of Hazel Rimmer
1963 – 2026

With great sadness, we have been asked to announce the passing of Hazel Rimmer, who died peacefully at Royal Lancaster Infirmary on Wednesday 1st July 2026, aged 63 years.

Hazel was the dearly loved daughter of Brenda and the late Norman Rimmer. A cherished sister to Fiona and dear sister-in-law to Tim, and a devoted aunt to Catherine.

Hazel will be deeply missed by her family, close friends and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.

A celebration of Hazel’s life will take place at St Luke’s Church Winmarleigh on Friday 17th July at 11.00am before she is laid to rest in the churchyard.

Following the service, all are warmly invited to join the family at Winmarleigh Village Hall for refreshments and to continue sharing memories of Hazel.

In Loving Memory of Joyce Fitzgerald
16th August 1929 – 16th June 2026

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Joyce Fitzgerald, who died peacefully at home following a short illness on Tuesday 16th June 2026, at the age of 96.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Lancaster Medical Practice, KTG Care Agency, the District Nursing Team and St John's Hospice for the compassionate care and support they provided to Joyce at home during this difficult time.

Joyce was the dearly loved wife of the late Michael Fitzgerald. She was a devoted mother to Marilyn, Micky and the late Michele, and a respected mother-in-law to Chris and the late William.

She was a much-loved Grandma to Cheryl, Christopher, Tony, Sean and Stephen; a treasured Great-Grandma to Sophie, Summer, Connor, Laila, Logan and Lando; and a loving Great-Grandma to Alba, Maddie and Max.

Throughout her working life, Joyce dedicated herself to caring for others. She worked as a nurse for the NHS at the Royal Albert Hospital in Lancaster and in the evenings, supported her husband Mick in their fish and chip shop. Following her retirement from nursing, Joyce continued to work alongside Mick in several family businesses, including Fitzgerald Freezers on Wi******er Avenue, Scotch Butchers in Lancaster town centre and the restaurant A Taste of Scotland in Dalton Square.

Family was always at the heart of Joyce's life. She spent many years helping to raise her grandchildren, a role she considered her greatest joy and most treasured achievement. Right up until her passing, Joyce could often be found surrounded by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchild, all of whom brought her immense happiness.

Her kindness, warmth, enthusiasm and unwavering love touched the lives of countless people, both young and old, earning her the affectionate title of "Legend" among those who knew her. Joyce's presence, wisdom and generosity will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends and all whose lives she enriched.

Forever loved, forever remembered.

Her funeral service will take place at Beetham Hall Crematorium on Wednesday 1st July at 12.30pm. Following the service, an invitation to join the family at Th’Owd Tithebarn in Garstang for refreshments and to continue sharing stories and memories of a wonderful lady.

In loving memory of Jim Clark
23rd December 1948 – 11th June 2026

With sadness, we have been asked to announce the death of Jim Clark. Jim died peacefully at home, surrounded with his family on Thursday 11th June, aged 77 years.
His family would like to thank the district nurses and St John’s hospice for their support at home through this difficult time.

Jim was a dearly loved husband to Kay. A devoted Dad to David, Steven and Hannah, and a respected father-in-law to Matt and Jacqui.

Much-loved brother to Jennifer, Michael, David, Radge, Jean, Bob and the late Dorothy. Loving Grandad to Josh, Connie, Abbie and James.

Jim will be fondly remembered by the farming and bowling communities for his determination, strong work ethic and wonderful sense of humour. He took immense pride in caring for the bowling green and tending to his garden, dedicating countless hours to pursuits he loved. His kindness, commitment and friendly nature touched the lives of many and he will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Jim’s funeral will take place at The Parish Church of St. Hilda’s Bilsborrow on Monday 29th June at 11.00am, before he is laid to rest in the Churchyard.

Following the service, the family extend an invitation to join them at The Cross Keys Whitechapel for refreshments and to continue celebrating Jim’s life, sharing stories and memories of a wonderful man.

With great sadness, we have been asked to announce the passing of Neil Dixon, who died peacefully at St John’s Hospice on Saturday 6th June, 2026, aged 73 years.

Neil was the treasured husband of Anne. A devoted and loving dad to Chris, Gareth and Becky, a cherished father in law to Justine, Hayley and Rob and a proud and adored grandad to Ewan, Sophie, Amelia, Matilda, Jack, Liam, Bobby, Jesse and Sidney.

Neil will be deeply missed by his family, close friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. His kindness, warmth and love for his family will be remembered always.

A celebration of Neil's life will take place at Lancaster and Morecambe Crematorium on Thursday 25th June at 11.30am. Following the service, all are warmly invited to Garstang Country Hotel for refreshments and to continue sharing memories and stories of Neil's life.
