This thing has been subject to a complete overhaul, with it seeing a full underside restoration back in '24, its great to see it all back together and ready to see some trackdays!

We are looking for an experienced vehicle technician to join our small team here at Garage Bavarian. If you have a passion for all things old and BMW, this could be the position for you!
•
Must haves;
- A clean driving licence
- A minimum of 3 years hands on in the trade (big bonus points if that has been working with BMWs)
- Level 3 city and guilds/NVQ or equivalent in light vehicle repair
- Strong attention to detail and the want to complete all tasks to a high standard
- Competent in diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults
•
The Job;
- We are a BMW Specialist, primarily specialising in older models from the 80s - '00s, however we do work on some newer stuff too.
- Jobs we carry out range from basic servicing to engine rebuilds, engine conversions to coilover setup and installs, so a diverse set of skills are required.
- It is a full time employed position, however we will consider self employed applicants too

The car that started it all

I've been asked before, what is it about the E36 that you love so much. Well 11 years ago, I bought a Montreal blue E36 318is. Little did I know, it would pave the way for an (probably borderline unhealthy) obsession with all things old and Bavarian, and eventually create this place.
•
Its been a journey with this one;
First euro trip, all the way to Worthersee in Austria
First breakdown (blew the headgasket on the mighty m44)
Bought an m52b28 with ZF for 150 quid
First engine rebuild
Bought a rebuilt L*D when they were £300
First engine conversion on a set of axle stands in an old barn
First track day
First alignment setup (bailer twine and axle stands for the win)
Its been a car thats created more great times and friendships than I can even count.

Its not fast, certainly by today's standards, its not very comfy (mostly my fault for how ive set it up), its rattly, its noisy. But in my eyes, its the best car in the world.
This one's here to stay

M4 Competition

Its not often we work on F series, but this one was certainly an exception we couldnt refuse.
We had this San Marino M4 comp in for an oil service and brake fluid change where we used uprated Motul RBF660 to help brake fade on track which the customer had complained about.
Whilst in we found the front coilovers had developed a knock so required an overhaul.

- BMW genuine Oil filter and pollen filter
- BMW Standard scope service
- Motul RBF660 brake fluid service
- KW V3 coilovers removed and sent off to for an overhaul and new springs
- Coilovers reinstalled and setup
- EBC Blue stuff pads fitted all round
- Genuine front discs fitted
- Geometry setup by

We've had this thing for 3 years now, and its been a great tool for playing about with what works for setting the chassis up to work on trackdays. We've played with different coilovers, spring rates, roll bars, brake setups (aerocatches due to a bonnet latch issue 👀) to get a good idea of a decent recipe for a bolt together track/fast road car with parts we can supply
•
Its also been a testament to the M52, because aside from a cooling system refresh and fitting an oil cooler, this has had zero engine work done in its time with us. Weve changed the oil every couple events and given it a thrashing on 15+ track days.
•
This is why weve decided to pull the engine and running gear (which is unknown mileage as it was replaced before our ownership) and give it all a proper refresh, ready to take some more abuse and see what we can do to improve it even more!
•

Recently we had Will's Montreal saloon in for a some Pre Euro trip checks and geometry setup. We've been looking after this thing for a while now and its certainly changed in its time here from the barely running 318 auto that first arrived.

- Rebuilt M52b28 swap
- Manual swap
- E46 330 brakes fitted all round including welding the rear shoes to allow the rear handbrake to work
- Rear subframe bushes all replaced in powerflex, subframe mounts reinforced and sealed
- Rear brake pipe replacement
- Braided brake hose install
- Fast road geometry setup

Its gone from a barely running slushbox to a dialled and seriously fun car drive

E46 330 clubsport SSG in recently as the clutch had started to slip.
Owner decided to go down the route of a manual swap instead of repairing the terrible SSG system.

- SSG box and associated parts removed
- ZF 5 speed swap set sourced from .jupp.5
- clutch line fitted
- 5th Gear lean repair on the new ZF gearbox
- Selector Shaft Seal replaced
- Coding of the EWS, KMB and DDE from SSG to manual
- Replacement propshaft donut

This thing is completely transformed for the better now theres a proper gearbox in there.

M3 Evo

Its no secret we love an E36 down here. So a 3.2 Evo saloon with extended Classic-Red interior was always going to be up there with one of our favourites.

We recently had this one in for some repair work;
•All power steering pipes replaced including the NLA high pressure line, supplied by the legend that is
•Vanos solenoid O-rings replaced to fix an oil leak
•Full set of original BMW underbody protection trays fitted
•Tie rods and an alignment
•Propshaft centre breading and donut replacement
•Typical M3 Evo input shaft leaky seal replaced

Its safe to say that this M3 feels dialled after all this work, ready for more years of enjoyment.
