When Steve Linsdell and I opened the doors on our new business, Flitwick Motorcycles in February 1984 we did it with very little money, little experience, but a love of all things Motorcycle, and the belief that we could build a strong business on that.
We were helped to do so by our friend Ellis Billington, who opened the business through his own love of all things bikes (at 90 he is still an avid biker), and closed it in late 1983. He owned the building, and gave us three years rent free time to get going, and buy the stock he still held there as we sold it, over the same time. Without that help I would not be posting this today, and we are thankful and proud that here we are , over 42 years later, with Steve and I retired from everyday work ( apart of course from building very fast Racing Motorcycles, two of which are currently in the TT paddock, alongside Steve, ready fir Joe Yeardsley Racing #21 and Michael Evans to ride ), and David our Son is now tasked with the mammoth day to day responsibility of taking the business into the future.
We have met and got to know many fellow motorcyclists over those years, and are proud that many have been and remain our customers as well as friends.
So I was delighted to hear from one such customer Peter Steele a week or so ago. He has been a motorcyclist for most of his adult life, and after retirement is an Author. His early life was was not an easy one, and he was helped to cope by his love of riding, and the motorcycle community and ethics we as bikers know and love.
I am delighted to say that his new book "Motorcycles in Mind" has now
become a best seller with Amazon, and having been sent a dedicated copy can say it is well worth the read.
So if you are a reader, order this and enjoy the ride.
