Huge congratulations to Gosia on passing her test today at Farnborough DTC on her first attempt this morning.

Controlled emotions on a wet drive, with 6 driver faults recorded was a fabulous result for Gosia. Once too terrified to sit in the drivers seat to now being the holder of a full manual category B drivers licence!!!

Huge congratulations to Max on passing his driving test first time today at Farnborough DTC.

A fantastic solid drive with ZERO faults recorded, had the examiner reaching for the pass certificates.

Thank you Jacob for your wonderful card and not one, not two, not three but four Toblerone's!!! Wow, that will last me a least a day 🤣🤣🤣🤣 and the gym is shut 💪

Your words have struck a chord. Every journey reaches it's destination, but the route is different for us all. I'm so happy we both hung on for the ride.

I have a potentially unpopular opinion.

Raise the cost of the driving test. The DVSA are doing 1.8 million to 2.4 million tests per year. They are losing the Government, (us the tax payers), between £43 and £56 million pounds per year.

In the sense of money the UK Government spends per year, it's a drop in the ocean. But it's our money they're wasting. We have the cheapest test fees in Europe, and the longest delays.

Whether the DVSA/DfT and HM Government are inept and incompetent is now no longer a question. It is now a fact. Personally I am tired. Tired of the lies, incompetence, arrogance, deceit, threats, lack of situational awareness, and unrealistic thinking.

This is just the very tip of of an agency submerged under their own outflow.

In the meantime parents, learners, and Driving Instructors are left to suffer the indignation of the DVSA/DfT and HM Government bungling an issue and turning it into a long running crisis. Thank you to the Three Mouseketeers.

From today, the incredibly lost and languishing DVSA have cut your driving instructors out of both booking, and swapping practical driving tests.

If you need to swap, here is what the DVSA want you to do.

Good luck everyone. I think this is going to be an experience.

•Make sure you have:

•your own driving licence number
•your own driving test booking reference number
•the details of the payment card you used to book your test (you do not need this if your driving instructor booked the test for you before the rules changed)
•details about any driving tests you’ve taken before
•The person who calls DVSA will also need the other learner driver’s driving test booking reference number.

•To make a swap, DVSA will never ask you for your payment card’s full number or security code.

•How the call works

•Do not call unless you are both free to take part in the call.

•One of you calls DVSA to request the swap.

•DVSA completes security checks with the person who called. You must confirm you agree to the swap.

•You give DVSA the other learner driver’s booking reference number. You will not be asked for their name or contact details.

•DVSA puts you on hold and calls the other learner driver. DVSA will only call them on the phone number that’s recorded for their booking - it will not accept a different number from you.

•DVSA will complete security checks with the other learner driver. They must confirm they agree to the swap.

•DVSA returns to you and completes the swap.

•DVSA customer services
Telephone: 0300 200 1122 (select option 1 and follow the prompts)
Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm
Find out about call charges

•DVSA will not complete the swap if either of you:

•fails the security checks
•does not agree to a legal declaration
•does not agree for the swap to go ahead
•has already used both of your 2 allowed changes

•DVSA will not be able to complete the swap if:

•the learner driver you’re swapping with does not answer the phone
•the phone number for the learner driver you’re swapping with is wrong on the booking service
•Both of your driving tests will stay the same.

•Confirmation emailed will no longer be sent.

Outstanding achievement Jacob, you've worked incredibly hard and the perseverance has paid off with a wonderful first time pass.

The 'wonderful' DVSA have now released how learner drivers can swap tests from Tuesday 12th May 2026.

You can find this information from the link below.

How effective this will be is unclear, but as Instructors we are no longer allowed to work directly on your behalf.

You may be able to swap your car driving test with another learner driver by phone if you both already have a test booked and want each other's test slot.

April has been an awesome month. Seven tests (one attending in their own car), and seven passes. An average of approximately 1.7 driver faults per test!!! Way to go guys!!!

Freedom is certainly coming to Chloe, Charlie, Owen, Freddie, George, Immy and Harry who delivered the goods on the day and earned the privilege of a full car drivers licence.

It's been a blast.
