CHANGES TO THE DRIVING TEST (from 09/06/2026) 🚗
From Tuesday, 9th June 2026, learner drivers will only be able to move their driving test to nearby test centres.
If you book a new test from this date, you will only be able to move your test to:
• any of the 3 centres nearest to where your test is booked
• the test centre you first booked at on that current booking
If you have an existing booking, the new rule will apply to where your test is booked at, on 9th June – not where you first booked. 🚗

Sound advice from ✅
Summer drives or motorway diversions can quickly put you onto country roads—and they place far more stress on your tyres than many drivers realise. Tight bends, heavy braking and shaded sections with hidden damp or moss can catch you out fast.
Quick tyre safety check 🚗
• Pressures correct (check when cold)
• Tread depth – legal minimum 1.6 mm (aim higher on rural roads)
• No cuts, bulges or uneven wear
• Remember shaded lanes can stay slippery even in summer
Tyres are your only contact with the road. A 2‑minute check can make all the difference.

Rural roads may look quiet, but they demand your full attention. A hidden dip or unexpected bend can catch you off guard, and if your tyres aren’t up to the challenge, you could lose control. Worn tyres don’t grip as well, especially in the rain. Before you set off, check your tread and pressure. A few minutes now could prevent a serious incident later.

Many drivers consider part worn tyres believing they offer better value. However, they usually come with far less usable tread than a new tyre, meaning they will need replacing much sooner. When you consider the cost per millimetre of usable tread, new tyres can often represent better value as well as improved safety. For long-term reliability and peace of mind, choose new tyres from a reputable tyre safety professional.

Every instructor knows the moment a pupil passes their test is a proud one. But removing the L plates does not mean the learning stops. The habits built during lessons often stay with drivers for years to come. Helping pupils understand that checking air pressure, condition and tread once a month is part of responsible driving can make a real difference. Tyre safety is not just for the driving test, it is for every journey they make afterwards.
