Well that’s it folks our garage is now closed for two weeks for any more bookings for this year.

It has been a rollercoaster of a year for us and we would like to thank all old and new customers for their business and support throughout the year.

Don’t worry if you have a PMI all ready booked we will still be doing them, or if you break down over the festive period we will still be on call 24/7.

We are now taking bookings for 2026 for all your needs.

Happy Saturday everyone another very unusual one for us out with our Ford Ranger to remove a mobile office out of a car park in Edinburgh on to the back of a low loader for its journey down to London. We were asked to attend due to the height restrictions getting in and out of the carpark.

Bit of a late one for out service van last night and also an unusual one these days:

We were called out to this beautiful truck with a burst hydraulic hose only to show up and the driver to be out in his water proofs cat walk off and ready for us. Quick hose change and fluid top up and the driver was on his way again.

Been another busy one for us here today with brake downs and workshop both going non stop. We also got the call to let us know that our tractor unit was ready so we went to pick it up only for us to have to call on help form an amazing local team in Dundee. After picking her up and driving out of the yard she decided to throw herself in to limp mode. Not having the service van with us we put the call out for help and T.S. Transport Ltd answered. We can not thank them enough for getting us back on the road so quickly. If you are ever in and around Dundee and need a good HGV mechanic do not hesitate to give them a call.

Policy Update.

We have updated our policy on Payment Terms. This is something that we did not want to have to do, but unfortunately it has had to come to this.

Unless there is a signed maintenance contract in place stating payment terms, all customers will be asked to pay parts up front.

There will also be a late payment fee implemented for any customer who goes over their agreed payment terms, which will be stated on all invoices going forward.

Again, we are sorry that we are having to implement this, and thank you for understanding.

Our socials have been quiet but our work shop, service van and recovery certainly have not been. Here are some photos of what we have been up to over the last month or two. Including recoveries from the highlands to under washes on HGV’s for their MOT’s and our new service that we are introducing Vinyl Decals made and applied in house all here at SHC Commercials.

We are seeking a skilled Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in vehicle maintenance and repair, demonstrating a keen attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.

Duties

Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles to identify issues and determine necessary repairs.

Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, PMI's, MOT's

Diagnose mechanical problems using diagnostic equipment and hand tools.

Repair or replace faulty components such as engines, transmissions, and electrical systems.

Maintain accurate records of all work performed on vehicles.

Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations while working in the workshop.

Collaborate with other team members to ensure timely completion of repairs and maintenance tasks.

Requirements

Previous experience as a Mechanic or in a similar role is essential.
Strong knowledge of vehicle systems and repair techniques.

Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure.

Attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.

Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

A valid driving licence is preferred; additional qualifications such as an NVQ or equivalent in vehicle maintenance would be advantageous.
