🔧 DIAGNOSTIC JOB – SHAUN’S GARAGE 🔧

Finally had some time to look at my own car today! 😂

The reverse sensors and reversing camera suddenly stopped working, with a Park Pilot system fault and “message missing” showing up.

After investigating with VCDS, I found the vehicle’s configuration was incorrect. For some reason, VCDS wouldn’t allow me to change the configuration.

I then connected the Bosch KTS dealer-level diagnostic system and was able to access the vehicle configuration.

The car was incorrectly configured as if it didn’t have parking sensors, an electric tailgate or a tow bar. 🤔

Exactly why this configuration had changed overnight is unknown, but after correcting the configuration, clearing all the fault codes and carrying out a full test, everything is now working perfectly again! ✅

This is a great example of why having the right diagnostic equipment and knowing how to use it properly is so important. 🔍

🔧 Another tricky fault diagnosed and repaired at Shaun’s Garage! 👨‍🔧

This Audi came in with a persistent SOS/Emergency Call System warning on the dashboard. The customer explained that it had previously been to Audi, but unfortunately the fault couldn’t be found.

Using our Bosch KTS dealer-level diagnostics, we quickly identified a fault with the Emergency Call Module antenna showing an open circuit.

After removing the rear bumper for inspection, we discovered the real cause. It looked like someone had been there before and left the retaining nut loose, allowing the antenna to rattle around for a long period. Unfortunately, the constant movement had caused the antenna to fail internally.

✅ Replaced the faulty antenna
✅ Cleared all fault codes
✅ Car fully tested
✅ SOS system restored and no warning lights on the dashboard

Sometimes the fault code only tells you what has failed – finding why it failed is what saves repeat repairs.

⚠️ Another wet belt replacement completed at Shaun’s Garage ⚠️

This Vauxhall Corsa came in with a wet belt that had badly deteriorated. As you can see, the belt had started breaking up, with debris blocking the oil pickup in the sump. Left unchecked, this can lead to oil starvation and potentially catastrophic engine damage.

This is a common issue on these engines, but regular servicing with the correct oil can help reduce the risk and extend the life of the wet belt.

The good news is that on these engines, it’s also possible to inspect the belt for signs of swelling and deterioration before it becomes a major problem.

If you own a Vauxhall Corsa or another vehicle with a wet belt and aren’t sure of its condition, get in touch and book in for a wet belt inspection along with a FREE vehicle health check.
