Who'd Have Thunk It!
The item in the photo is the innards of a tailgate control module from a Nissan. The vehicle was recovered to us recently after the customer returned to their vehicle only to find what seemed like a complete failure of the electrcal system. The only things that worked being the central locking, interior lights and hazard warning lights.
Our logical test routines soon showed up a computer network fault that prevented the various computers (ECUs) on the vehicle from sharing information with each other which in turn prevented the car from switching on fully.
We were then able to efficiently trace the cause of the network failure - in this case it was the boot (tailgate) control module.
Who'd have thought that a boot module could stop an entire vehicle in it's tracks!
