When your mechanic says your cam wetbelt on your Ford eco boost engine needs changing and you say it’s only done 50,000 miles. These two fords in for wetbelt change. One failed spectacularly and one cracked and ready to let go. The first one needs extensive engine work the second just a belt change. The difference in price £1000!!!

Something that really troubles me as a garage owner happened again this morning a customers came in asking to replace his bulb and how much ? I replied £10 his reply ‘ that’s too much money’ I then replied and said well I have to take Vat off that that’s £1.20 supply the bulb and pay my guys to fit that bulb ‘well it will only take you two minutes and I already have a bulb’
I replied it still £10 I’m sorry but the cost of my guys lab and my garage bills it’s not worth me breaking a guy off to fit that bulb he subsequently left does anyone agree or disagree?
I think that it was a reasonable cost to replace a bulb I have overheads tax and bills to consider to many people want something for nothing I’m a sole trader who employs two guys and myself on top of rising bills and costs I think this day and age it’s a reasonable cost to ask…
