This is one weirdly cool coloured M3. Looks a flat blue until the sun hits it! 😍

Stupidly thin paint in places, resprayed rear quarter, some paint missing in places and quite a few bird poo etchings to deal with!

So the mission was to remove as many swirls as I could with removing as little clear coat as possible! Gotta be honest, I wasn’t happy doing this one! 😂

This lovely Toyota Corolla came in for a little TLC—and left with a whole lot more gloss ✨

As always, the real work starts with the prep. After a thorough clean, the paint received a single-stage machine polish to remove the bulk of the swirls and bring back that crisp, glossy finish.

There were a few deeper marks that could have been chased, but with modern paint often being so thin, it’s about getting the best result while keeping the finish safe. No unnecessary chasing—just a thoughtful polish that makes the whole car look brighter.

To finish, the client chose my most popular 3-year ceramic coating, plus a polish and protection for the exterior glass.

That colour is absolutely popping now! 😍

Stunning Rosso Competizione Giulia QF has left the building 🥺

What a machine. And what a finish.

This one had my most popular package: a single-stage gloss enhancement to knock back the bulk of the swirls, followed by a 3-year ceramic coating to protect that beautiful paintwork.

The exterior glass was machine polished and coated too, so she’s ready to face the colder, muckier months ahead.

Some cars book in for a detail.

Others arrive and demand an entire bloody strategy… 😅

This isn’t just any car—it’s a TVR Tuscan. An off-the-shelf package simply wasn’t going to cut it, so a completely bespoke package was created around the car.

It required patience, precision and a delicate yet firm hand… because the paint was soft, sensitive and almost as dramatic as the car itself!

Several body panels were removed so every area could be accessed and treated properly. The paint then received an extensive multi-stage correction—with four full days dedicated to the cutting stage alone—before being carefully refined and ceramic coated.

The alloy wheels were also removed, but with a tubular chassis underneath, simply throwing a jack beneath it wasn’t an option! Extra care was taken around the correct jacking points before the wheels were thoroughly cleaned, decontaminated, machine polished and ceramic coated.

Every piece of exterior glass was polished and coated, while the removable rear plastic screen was carefully taken out, cleaned and given its own protection.

Inside, the Tuscan received a full deep clean, working through every nook, cranny and wonderfully awkward TVR-shaped hiding place. The fabrics and leather were thoroughly cleaned before receiving protective coatings of their own.

No rushed shortcuts. No chasing unsafe perfection. Just a carefully considered package designed to achieve the best possible result while respecting what makes this car so special.

The Tuscan certainly made me work for it but just look at that finish! 😍

1970s Ford Cortina — A Little Trip Back to Life on Mars?

Freshly imported from South Africa by her new owner, this gorgeous 70s Cortina arrived at VII Car Care ready for some serious attention. 🇿🇦➡️🇬🇧

Cars of this age can be fascinating — and sometimes challenging — once you start investigating the paintwork properly. The roof is the only remaining original paint, with the rest of the car having been refinished at some point in its life.

The paintwork had heavy contamination and extremely thin paint in random areas, with the edges proving particularly fragile.

This is exactly why we always believe in assessing the paintwork properly before reaching for the machine polisher. Paint correction isn’t simply about removing as many defects as possible. It’s about understanding what you’re working with, identifying the areas that can safely be corrected, and knowing when to take a more conservative approach.

With older and previously refinished vehicles especially, taking your time and working methodically is essential. The aim is always to achieve the best possible finish while safely preserving as much paint as we can — rather than chasing perfection at the expense of the paint itself.
