How did the Tuk Tuk craze start ?
Tukshop was born in 2003 when mrsteve our founder was travelling in India during a six month sabbatical away from a successful IT recruitment career with Computer People
'These vehicles are far too much fun to be restricetd to Asian roads'......said mrsteve
Our first shipment of 20 Bajaj Tuk Tuks arrived early 2004 from India at Southampton docks.
It took the best part of six months to sort out the DVLA red tape and also persuade UK underwriters to insure the iconic three wheelers! In the meantime customers were queuing up to get there’s onto the road.
Our goal back then was simply a tuk tuk in every town and as of 2018 we are not far off with more than 500 tuk tuks running around (another 100 exported to Europe where they have really taken off ) in various applications not limited to a personal toy, a taxi, wedding hire vehicle, coffee cart, ice cream, photbooth, prosecco van...you get the idea !
Lots of other start ups have been inspired to make a business from tuk tuks all over the UK and Europe, you too could too to mrsteve today about how you can join the fun..
