Vehicle Technician / Mechanic at a Family-Run Garage

Location: Eastbourne
Salary: Up to £38,000 DOE + Performance Bonus (up to £150/week)
Hours: 8:30am – 5:30pm, Monday to Friday (no weekends)

Due to increased workload, we are looking for a reliable and capable Vehicle Technician / Mechanic to join our small, friendly team.

What We Offer
- Up to £38,000 salary depending on experience
- Performance-related bonus of up to £150 per week (so up to £6,900 per year)
- 28 days holiday (including bank holidays)
- Monday–Friday only – no weekends

The Role
- Carry out servicing, repairs and maintenance on a range of domestic and commercial vehicles
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs efficiently
- Work to job times while maintaining high standards of workmanship
- Communicate with the office if additional work or time is required
- Complete job cards accurately using our garage management system tablets

About You

We’re looking for someone who is:
- An experienced Vehicle Technician / Mechanic
- Reliable, organised and takes pride in their work
- Able to work efficiently and manage their own workload
- Comfortable working independently within a small team
- Looking for a long-term role in a stable, well-run garage

MOT licence would be beneficial but not essential.

This customer broke down last week with a load of lights on the dash and a message about oil pressure. . .After being recovered to us this is the oil we drained out 😱😱 how that was still pumping round her engine and had not done catastrophic damage yet I do not know 😬. We’ve had to do three flushes with cleaners and luckily the engine is ok. The service light had been on for years and been ignored 😬. Regular servicing is crucial to the maintenance of your vehicle - the few hundred you save on not servicing could cost you thousands for a new engine! And this was an expensive car too - her pride and joy. ✔️

We are looking to hire a full time receptionist for our busy garage and MOT Centre. The work is fast paced and varied including dealing with customers on the phone and in person, estimating and invoicing jobs, ordering parts, processing returns or warranty claims and so on.

The ideal candidate would already have previous motor trade experience so understand the busy garage environment and potentially using systems like Haynes to assist with estimating jobs. But being a strong administrator and able to juggle a busy workload is most fundamental so if either of those describe you then please drop us an email with your CV to [email protected]

Much needed today though even though I already bought in ice lollies for tea break this morning 🤪 it sure is a hot one today though! 🥵 we keep topping up customers Aircon but we really need it in the garage 😂

Had the wife’s car valeted today by Splash & Shine Detailing based in Eastbourne. Our car goes camping and off road a lot so had gotten pretty muddy inside with the weather this year 🙈 but just look at how lovely it’s come up!
