🏍 BikeSafe is back!

Are you a qualified motorcyclist who wants to hone your skills with the Durham Roads & Armed Policing Unit? Then look no further.

Durham Constabulary has 112 workshop spaces available during August, September and October, as part of the BikeSafe initiative which looks to provide advance riding skills to motorcyclists to reduce potential collisions on the force’s roads.

The one-day course will see participants tutored by advanced riders at the DRAP base in Spennymoor, giving you the chance to bridge the gap between skills you learned when you gained your initial licence and those used by operational officers.

Theory will be covered in the morning, followed by a three-to-four-hour assessment ride in the afternoon.

🗣 DRAP motorcycle sergeant Steve Down said: “We know that motorcylists are more likely to suffer significant injuries when involved in a collision so this is a great way for riders to hone their skills and hopefully reduce the amount of collisions involving motorcyclist on our roads.

“I’d encourage any qualified motorcyclists to get involved.”
To participate you will need:

• A road-worthy bike in excess of 125cc
• Your driving licence
• Proof of insurance
• Appropriate clothing, including an approved helmet and visor, a motorcycle jacket and gloves.
