Letter for schools:
To [Name of the School]
Subject: Request to introduce the optional Romanian Language, Culture and Civilization Course (LCCR) – school year 2026/2027
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing as the parent/legal guardian of ………….. [Student Name]……….., who is currently in Year ……. at your school.
I would like to bring to your attention the Romanian Language, Culture and Civilisation Course (LCCR), a programme funded by the Romanian authorities through the Romanian Language Institute. This course can be offered as an optional subject for students of Romanian origin in schools that are willing to host it at no cost.
The LCCR programme supports bilingualism, encourages intercultural understanding and helps students maintain their linguistic and cultural heritage. At the same time, it offers a valuable opportunity to enrich the wider school community through cultural exchange and diversity.
Importantly, the LCCR courses are free of charge for both the host schools and the students, while the costs related to the teaching staff - native UK-based Romanian speakers with specific training selected by the Romanian Language Institute - are fully covered by the Romanian Ministry of Education.
The format of the course is of two hours per week and its curriculum is approved by order of the Romanian Minister of Education. Scheduling arrangements would be agreed between the school and the assigned teacher to ensure suitability for all participants.
According to the project guidelines, the LCCR course may be considered in any school upon the collection of a minimum of 7 enrolments (for the 3-6 years old range) and a minimum of 15 enrolments (for the 7-18 years old range), including those joining from nearby schools (if the hosting school agrees to also accept other students). The program is currently available in several UK schools with significant numbers of Romanian students.
In this context, I hereby express my strong interest for my child to participate in the above-mentioned project if the school agrees to host it during the 2026/2027 academic year.
I would be very grateful if the school could consider contacting the Embassy of Romania in London (at [email protected]) by 14 May 2026 to explore the possibility of hosting the LCCR course, so that our school could be included on the official list of potential host schools for which the teacher recruitment and selection process will be organised.
Thank you for your consideration.
Yours faithfully,
