A glowing review from William

I found John Jardine and Your Pass Driving School at a point where I wasn't sure if I wanted to continue to learn to drive. Previous experiences had left me wondering if I was even capable of developing the confidence or the skill to be a safe driver.

Within minutes of working with John, I found myself at ease with the supportive and friendly environment he created. I was able to book lessons online at a schedule that suited myself and my learning, and as the year progressed and demands changed, this support was maintained. John allowed me to make mistakes safely, then provide me with honest feedback, and pointers to learn from them, with judgement free critiques. Where once I dreaded driving lessons, I soon came to look forward to them, and the chats that came with them. Even with the struggles of getting a practical test booked, John offered advice and encouragement to stay the path. That he was teaching me to be a safe driver, not just simply to pass a test. Aided by the videos on Your Pass's YouTube page, roads within Dunfermline became a breeze, and the confidence gained working with John allowed me to shake the nerves to pass my practical test on the first try.

That is John's greatest gift as a driving instructor. He sees the human behind the learner; worries and strengths in all, and tailors a learning approach that suits the learner. If you are at all a nervous driver, John is phenomenal, and is a credit to the Your Pass team. Thank you John!

πŸš— Our 5 most common driving faults this week

Looking across our real driving lessons this week, these were the issues that kept appearing:

πŸš— Road positioning and lane discipline
πŸ‘€ Missing observations and safety checks
🚦 Speed awareness and control
πŸ”„ Roundabout judgement and positioning
πŸ…ΏοΈ Parking accuracy and steering control

⚠️ This week's lessons also highlighted the importance of recognising hazards early and making safe decisions before acting.

Some situations required instructor intervention, reminding us why good observations and forward planning are so important.

Remember, making mistakes is part of learning. Recognising them and understanding how to improve is what helps us become safer, more confident drivers.

These are common faults across different learners, not individual assessments.

Praise from the examiner for your great drive.

Massive congratulations to Emily on her first time pass this afternoon with just one wee fault!
Emily opted to use her own car, as much more familiar and comfortable with it.

NEW! every Friday we are going to start publishing;

πŸš— Our 5 most common driving faults this week

Looking across our real driving lessons this week, these were the issues that kept appearing:

πŸ”„ Roundabout positioning and lane discipline
🚦 Speed awareness and control
πŸ‘€ Mirrors, blind spots and observations
πŸ…ΏοΈ Parking and manoeuvre accuracy
↩️ Signals and forward planning

The big theme this week was giving yourself more time. A slightly calmer approach gives you more time to see signs, choose the correct lane, complete your observations and make better decisions. Check back next week to see how our learners have been doing!
