When overtaking cyclists, the Highway Code states to give at least as much room as you would when overtaking a car. As a guide - leave at least 1.5 metres when overtaking cyclists at speeds of up to 30mph, and give them more space when overtaking at higher speeds.

What you should never do is try to squeeze through on your side of the road leaving next to no margin for error whilst trying to maintain fast speed.

Your journey and getting to your destination as quickly as you can does not take priority over the safety of another human being. This approach to driving is selfish and entitled and why we see so many road traffic accidents and needless fatalities.

Massive congratulations to legendary Logan MacIntyre for passing his Driving Test this afternoon in the glorious Dunfermline sunshine. A brilliant day for brilliant news.

I'm absolutely delighted for you mate - you should be incredibly proud of yourself for not only what you did earlier but the way you have handled yourself throughout our lessons. Never knocked down by the setbacks - always bouncing back with a quiet and understated determination to get better and now you have your reward.

I suspect your confidence will take a huge leap from today and now the weight of the test is off you can really start to enjoy life as a driver.
