*Mechanic/ Semi Skilled Job*
We are very busy and so looking for another experienced mechanic / MOT tester to join our friendly team. However, the post may suit someone with less experience but looking to further their career as training will be given.

The ideal person will be hard working, experienced in working on all types of cars/ vans up to 3.5t, reliable, able to work on their own initiative and have good customer service skills. They must have a full driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points.

The job may suit part time or an enthusiastic person looking to further their career as training will be provided including MOT tester training if not already qualified.

Wages are negotiable to the right person and will be up to £30,000 doe. Work hours are 40 per week Monday to Friday.

Benefits include on site parking, tool box cover, pension, employee discounts, overtime at double time and some flexibility with work hours.

Changes to Petrol

As some of you may have heard, during summer 2021 the standard (95 octane, E5) petrol grade in Great Britain will become E10. The new E10 contains up to 10% renewable ethanol, current petrol in the UK contains up to 5% renewable ethanol.

Around 95% of petrol vehicles are compatible with E10 petrol. All new cars manufactured since 2011 are compatible with E10 petrol and most cars and motorcycles manufactured since the late 1990s are also approved by manufacturers to use E10. However classic, cherished and older vehicles, some specific models manufactured from the early 2000s and some mopeds may not be.

Some other things such as boats, lawnmowers, chainsaws and light aircraft may also not be compatible with E10 and owners/ operators should check the manual or with manufacturers if they are in any doubt. E5 will still be available in most petrol stations.

As you all know 2020 has been a very tough year, from sitting at home writing furlough letters for employees with tears in my eyes, to the constant worry about whether staying open was the right thing to do. But North End Garage has been operating for over 75 years and I'm nothing if not stubborn! I do wonder what dad would have made of it all. I would like to take this opportunity to thank my colleagues for all their hard work and support.
