🎉 FIRST TIME PASS 🎉

A huge congratulations to Roxane on passing her driving test first time this morning! What an amazing achievement and a thoroughly deserved result.

From today, no more relying on lifts to get to choir practice – you'll be able to jump in the car and head there yourself! 🎶🚗 I know how much singing means to you, so this extra bit of independence is going to make a real difference.

It's been a pleasure helping you on your journey. You've worked hard, stayed determined, and today it all paid off! 🥳

One of the biggest things I try to teach in my car is that learning to drive isn't about being perfect. It's about learning from every situation, building confidence, and understanding how to handle whatever the road throws at you.

Mistakes happen – that's completely normal. What matters is taking the time to talk through what happened, why it happened, and what we can do differently next time. That's where real progress is made.

Every lesson is a step forward, and every challenge is an opportunity to learn!

Ever wondered how the driving test is actually marked? ✅

The DVSA marking sheet below is what examiners use during your practical driving test.

Many learners are surprised to discover that you can make up to 15 driving faults (sometimes called 'minors') and still pass, but just one serious or dangerous fault will result in a fail.

Here's the actual DVSA marking sheet used by examiners during your practical test. Understanding what the examiner is looking for can make a huge difference to your preparation and confidence.

A lovely day at the ADINJC Scotland Conference today.

Always important to keep learning, developing, and improving as an instructor. Continuous professional development helps me give my pupils the best possible learning experience, and I’m committed to continuing to grow and learn throughout my career.

My biggest takeaway from today was the importance of road safety and instilling key values into drivers that help shape positive driving attitudes for life.

Lots of new changes to the DVSA booking system for practical driving tests.

Lots of new changes to the DVSA booking system for practical driving tests.

From today, there will be more changes for learner drivers.

Only you can book or manage your car driving test. This means your driving instructor won’t be allowed to book it for you.

COMMON DRIVING TEST FAILS

A driving test isn’t about being perfect — it’s about being safe, legal and making good decisions.

A lot of faults come down to nerves, rushing, or driving differently than you normally would in lessons.

Remember:
✔️ Mirrors before every change
✔️ Take your time at junctions
✔️ Keep checking observations
✔️ Stay calm and plan ahead

Confidence comes from practice and preparation!

If you’re ready to start learning in an automatic car and want calm, supportive lessons, just get in touch.

New driving test booking rules coming in from March 2026 – make sure you’re aware before booking.

We’re putting learners in control of their car driving test bookings 🚘

If you’ve got a booking or you’ll be looking for a test soon, make a note of these dates 📅

31 March 2026 – only 2 changes can be made to a booking

12 May 2026 – only learners are allowed to book a test and make changes

9 June 2026 – learners can move their booked test only to nearby centres

By changing who can book car and change driving tests, we’re aiming to reduce the re-selling of driving tests, giving the power back to learners 💪

Another FIRST TIME PASS 🎉

I’m so proud of my pupil, Stella, who passed her driving test this morning with just two minor faults!

When Stella started lessons back in September, she was very anxious. She’d previously tried manual but hadn’t managed to continue. Her goal was simple — to pass her test so she could be the driver when travelling with her parents, not the passenger.

Fast forward six months… she now has her full licence, her own car, and a future full of independence and new opportunities ahead of her!

Stella, you were an absolute star pupil — so determined, so hardworking — and I’m really going to miss our lesson chats!

For anyone struggling with anxiety or driving nerves, this is proof that you can do it. Just keep going — one lesson at a time. 🚗✨
