Before & After 🏍️

Really enjoyed this restoration project. This 37 year old bike started off life white and red, and is now a 1990s sonauto Dakar rally replica. The bike has been fully stripped and rebuilt, giving it a new lease of life. It’s been a fair mixture of hard work, garage hours and patience.

The bikes had a full respray in a periodic Yamaha blue with a full sonauto Dakar rally decal kit applied, new arrow exhaust fitted, yellow fork gaitors, new mirrors, a full service, headlights tinted yellow amongst a few other things. The transformation has mainly been cosmetic as it always run great but after its service and tune up, it’s even better 💨

If you compare the first couple of pictures to the others, you’ll notice there’s quite a few small differences visually that all add up 😃

Extensive work carried recently including a new clutch, full timing belt kit and full front suspension rebuild.

The whole front suspension has been replaced, this was all because the anti roll bar bushes were making a slight knock and I went a bit OTT and just decided to replace the lot. All parts used were OE quality and not cheap rubbish, parts used as follows;

TRW front shock absorbers
Bilstein springs ( original height )
Sachs dust covers and bump stops
Febi Bilstein Anti roll bar and bushes
KYB top mountings
TRW lower and upper suspension arms
FAG anti roll bar links
GH rubber spring seats

Since all the work done it’s possibly not even done 1000 miles and maybe 1500 miles on the new tyres.

This is my own personal vehicle and only for sale due to lack of use.

Will really miss this car but hope an enthusiast gets to enjoy it.
