A big HELLO to our new followers on this page

It doesn't matter if you own an old vehicle or not you are most welcome to view your opinion on what's happening on our Facebook group (no swearing or racist remarks please)

We are always looking for helpers (marshals) to help us especially as we have had a few retire or sadly pass away in the past 12 months and we are losing another main man in a couple of weeks time after 17 years of service

We could do with a few more helpers for next year please as most of us are in our late 60's with the eldest into their 80's but we do it because we enjoy what we do putting on these events for you and of course we get in for free!!! 😉

Sadly this event got cancelled a few weeks ago that I was looking forward to attending

The date had already been changed which meant that I had to restructure my original dates for us here on Christchurch Quay and ended up losing two days that we could have opened up with this sunday being one of them which would have been a first for us opening up three consecutive sunday's on the trot but out of respect to the organisers of the Norden event I chose nor to clash with their rearranged date

I have already started planning our events for next year and quite often have to change them about as I don't like clashing with the classic car clubs especially the ones I belong to

With a couple of new venues to check out for 2027 hopefully we will be running a few extra dates and apologies now to the clubs but I am putting us first and not losing anymore dates so apologies in advance

Yes, talking about 2027 already which will be our 28th consecutive season and we will definitely be looking for some more volunteers to keep us going as we had retirements at the end of last year and will be having more after our last event of the season in just over a weeks time

On behalf of the team enjoy your weekend 😀

A big THANK YOU to everyone who attended last sunday's event at Christchurch Quay

We collected £921 through the entrance fees plus voluntary donations and the trio playing on the bandstand collected a further £88

That makes a total of £1009 going direct to local charities courtesy of our fantastic exhibitors and visitors

The acoustic trio will be back again on the 20th of September to do a couple of sets so come along and support them and of course the vehicles that are being exhibited

Opening hours are 11.00am until 5.00pm despite what other people might unwittingly tell you!!!

As usual, you can arrive and depart at anytime between 11.00am and 5.00pm

Open to all vehicles registered before September 2001 and please note vehicles with private registration number plates are checked at the gate

I have been given a few suggestions about how to deal with the problem people who turn up far too early and jeopardise any future classic car events at Christchurch Quay

The banger racing boys one I will keep as a last resort but I do like the one whereby we rename "The Quomps" with "The Pub" where I am the landlord (I did run a few pubs over the years in the 1980's and 1990's) and I can shout out "You're barred" at the offenders

Another one was to carry a placard with "I'M THE BOSS NOT YOU"

Quite a few of you have suggested taking photos and putting them up on a board to name and shame the offenders after them being banned from anymore of our events

Please remember that we open at ELEVEN O'CLOCK and not before

Yesterday we had four of our team members held up in the blocked road caused by the early comers which meant we opened with not enough marshals which goes against our contract with the landlords and I will never again put our contract on the line

Please understand that as the boss I am responsible for everyone's health and safety including my terrific team members and if I can not get a full team together the event will not be able to go ahead

I ask that you understand with exhibitors arriving early you cause a major headache to myself and fellow team members plus the neighbours around the area

Sunday the 20th of September is the next date at Christchurch Quay "The Quomps" so please don't let it be the last one

Can I ask that you pass this message on to friends, clubs and social media

At the end of the day we can hold 500 plus vehicles so there is plenty of space for everyone

Many thanks

Due to a few narrow minded people who insist on queuing up over an hour and a quarter before our set opening time of 11.00am which upsets the local residents who then confront me and also contact the police who in turn contact me

These selfish people could jeopardise any future classic car events at Christchurch Quay

For a while yesterday Christchurch Town centre came to a standstill with vehicles queuing from the Fountain roundabout right along to our gate in Whitehall

I know not everyone does Facebook but when I questioned the offenders and was told in no uncertain terms that it was on their club website as a 10.00am opening time

Let me please ask the classic car and vintage vehicle clubs to check your website and club magazines and to anyone else who advertises our events to ensure that you have 11.00am as the opening time

I came under a lot of abuse from 10.00am onwards yesterday (sunday) which is not acceptable with one "gentleman" very lucky he is not having an exceedingly long stay in hospital

Our next event on sunday the 20th of september I have two options available for the early birds:-

1/ Speak with the council to engage parking enforcement officers who will ticket any vehicles along Whitehall

2/ If I drive up at 10.00am to do my site inspection and set everything up for the event and there are vehicles queuing then I will just drive off home

Sadly these early birds are jeopardising our future events at Christchurch Quay

Please, if anyone who is reading this post that knows someone who attends our events at Christchurch Quay that isn't on Facebook will you please update them with what I have spoken about on here

Just remember that we are on a tightrope when it comes to hiring Christchurch Quay because if we continue to upset the neighbours and residents of Christchurch then we or any other classic car events will be scorned upon and refused

11.00am is our opening time at Christchurch Quay so if you want to keep the premier location on the south coast please don't upset myself and the team because we are unpaid volunteers who give up their time to put on these events for you to enjoy and not to be slagged off
