Although it’s not the magic fix many people think it is, diagnostics equipment is invaluable, provided you know what you’re looking for/at! This bike had a very unstable idle and would occasionally stall. Looking at this screen two things jumped out at me, firstly the hPa (vacuum) values were significantly different between cylinders and secondly they both looked on the high side at idle. To me this suggests an air leak. And would you believe it………

It’s been mainly brakes this week SnS Motorcycles Super clean old ZX9R having its 30 odd year old braking system freshened up and some new rubber. Really original old girl this one! Then attention turned to the brakes on the Redbull 916 resto job, this is the first AP master cylinder I’ve ever had apart , really nice bit of kit and works in an unconventional way compared to brembo etc SnS Motorcycles sns_motorcycles

Busy old week that one! Speed triple with a noise throwing up an unexpected surprise, R1 service and fork seals, CRF C&S kit, a set of RG500 forks stripped ready to have the lower tubes vapour blasted. After a bit of investigation on the Bandit which came in as a non runner, I found the fuel filter had come apart and taken the fuel pump and pressure regulator with it (parts which Suzuki don’t list as replaceable without buying a complete assembly but where there’s a will…..) And the Panigale V4 SP for fresh rubber. All this being made all the more pleasant by the fact I managed to dislocate my shoulder on Monday afternoon! 🥴 not all heroes wear capes! SnS Motorcycles
