Wetbelt and DPF issues solved!

Call out to suspected belt failure.

Looks like the belt is fine but the vacuum pump has locked the cam by the looks of it.

Going to arrange collection and get this back to the workshop and sorted for the customer!

This one’s a bit of a macabre post and not van related one bit but it’s regarding the poor lad that’s lost his life at Yorkshire Wildlife park on Saturday!

We passed the entrance earlier on the way to look at a non runner for a customer and all the vultures were out looking for a story!

We don’t know why he did it yet but I’d just like to say anyway that if anyone is struggling, reach out to someone! Anyone!

I hope the lad Rests in Peace now and hopefully they will name him so he has an identity to mourn!

Tigers are Tigers so it was just using its instinct and I’m a massive animal lover so please don’t blame that!

So as this van has had two heads fail, and some poorly re-manufactured (at least) injectors fitted (now replaced with genuine Ford).

We have decided to put diesel in the pots to make sure the piston rings and cylinder walls etc are healthy. They look decent but you never assume in this game!

At the time of writing this it’s been 3.5hours and the diesel hasn’t gone anywhere so we’ve got healthy rings.

Would anyone else do this different?

We’re also replacing the EGR while everything is stripped then any of the issues we believe contribute to the issue are sorted. Plus the inlet is disgusting 🤢.

Been a busy morning running around but now we’re back in and get this oil tight today if nothing else!@

I feel for this gent I really do! 😫

He’s got low compression causing starting issues.

This is the second time he’s had the same issue on the van he’s owned from New (or I think new).

He had the head replaced by ford just out of warranty and now after a few other issues including “new” (rusty) injectors and a turbo he’s back to square one with the same issue 😫😫😫.

It’s hard at times as you feel like you’re constantly giving people bad news with big bill (mainly parts) and feel awful.

I literally feel like a dentist, only see them when there’s an issue and always a big bill!

Was hoping I was wrong but a compression test never lies 😫😫

THE!!! MOST BORING VIDEO YOU’LL EVER WATCH!

After the last video where the brand new sump pretty much “fell off”.

I’ve used the same sump and explained the prep and process we’ve done to re-fit and ensure it’s oil tight!

We’ve used the same sump and believe it or not, the surface before scotching is how it came off the van! Not one bit of silicone had stuck to it! Hence the Scotch down!!

This is a process we use and don’t seem to have an issue and no blown out ally block this way either!

What’s the point in Ford silicones etc if you can’t even seal a sump!

So the only thing we hadn’t changed on this van after a top end re-build was the sump as it had a brand new oil pump belt and sump prior to it coming to us!

The sump wasn’t part of the job but we had a suspicion it wasn’t held on correctly and we try each bolt removed could see it dropping!

The word isn’t to slag other guys off, the word is awareness that some are absolutely rubbish so take it to a reputable place!

If I was slagging off, I’d name and shame but I don’t. But my poor customer has paid good money for this sorting!!

Non Runner Brought to us after someone else had tried to sort it.

It wouldn’t run though as 11 broken rockers and a spun cam lobe along with previous starting issues meant it had no chance without serious work!

But in trying to constantly start it they’d damaged the starter motor and some other bits but with the battery dead it was causing some gremlins to start it would work with a relay bypass but not off the key!

Anyway eventually it showed up transponder ring on the ignition which we swapped off one of our vans then it fired up! But here’s the weird thing…

The old one now works! So we’re going to swap the transponder ring and advise the customer to get a spare key cut just in case it’s the key playing up intermittently!

This Van needed minimum before the burnt out starter motor 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻
✅re-furbished head with 16 new valves
✅Cam Carrier
✅New Rockers

It also had Black Death meaning an unseated injector had melted a few bits 😫.
We replaced the melted bits and cleaned everything else up!

Only time will tell if the injectors are ok!
