Shell Safety Day:
Firstly, thank you to everyone for taking the time to participate in Shell Safety Day. Your commitment, engagement, and focus on safety demonstrate that we all share the responsibility of creating a safe workplace for our colleagues, customers, and contractors. Let’s continue to put safety first every day.
Key Messages
* Safety is our top priority – No task is so urgent that it cannot be done safely.
* Take care of yourself and others – Look after your own safety and intervene if you see an unsafe act or condition.
* Stop Work Authority – If you believe a task is unsafe, stop the work immediately and report it.
* Follow Life-Saving Rules – Always comply with Shell’s Life-Saving Rules and site safety procedures.
* Report hazards and near misses – Report all hazards, unsafe conditions, and near misses promptly so they can be addressed before an incident occurs.
* Use the correct PPE – Wear the appropriate personal protective equipment for every task.
* Maintain good housekeeping – Keep the site clean, tidy, and free from slip, trip, and fall hazards.
* Manual handling – Use the correct lifting techniques and ask for help when lifting heavy or awkward items.
* Fire safety – Know the location of fire extinguishers, emergency exits, and assembly points. Never block fire exits.
* Forecourt safety – Ensure customers switch off their engines while refuelling, do not smoke or use naked flames, and report any fuel spills immediately.
* Prevent drive-offs safely – Never put yourself at risk to stop a customer leaving without paying.
* Personal security – Stay aware of your surroundings, especially during lone working or cash handling.
* Incident reporting – Report all accidents, injuries, environmental incidents, and security concerns immediately.
* Wellbeing matters – If you are feeling tired, stressed, or unwell, speak to your manager. Looking after your wellbeing is an important part of staying safe.
* Everyone has a responsibility – Safety is everyone’s responsibility, every shift, every day.
