π 2012 Honda CR-V 2.2 Diesel β 169,000 Miles β DPF Issues!
Another higher-mileage vehicle through our workshop, proving just how important proper diagnostics and live data analysis really are.
These Honda engines donβt always produce fault codes to highlight underlying issues, which is why checking live data is essential.
π Our Initial Assessment:
DPF exhaust back pressure was reading 30 mbar at idle, indicating a restricted filter.
Given the vehicleβs mileage and likely ash accumulation, our preferred recommendation was to remove the DPF for professional off-vehicle flash cleaning.
However, the owner plans to change the vehicle soon and understandably wanted to keep costs down.
After discussing the available options, they decided to proceed with our four-stage on-vehicle DPF cleaning service.
β
The Results:
π΄ Before cleaning: 30 mbar
π’ After cleaning: 9 mbar
Thatβs a 70% reduction in exhaust back pressure!
Following a short initial road test, the vehicle was taken on an extended road test to check its performance and confirm the improvement.
While on-vehicle cleaning cannot remove accumulated ash, it can still provide a worthwhile improvement in the right circumstances.
Not every DPF problem requires the same solution. We assess each vehicle individually and recommend the most appropriate options based on its condition, mileage and the ownerβs circumstances.
