Established in 2004 Aqua Narrowboats (UK) Ltd is based at our 8000sqft, purpose made factory (The Boat House) in Foston, Derbyshire. Here we build both our Bespoke built narrowboats, as well as narrowboats for our highly successful hire fleet, based at Barton Marina on the Trent & Mersey Canal in Staffordshire. Although landlocked The Boat House was designed and built with two overhead cranes with

a total lifting capacity of 40 tonnes. This allows both narrowboats and widebeams to be lifted onto trailers for transportation across the country. We produce the highest quality bespoke built narrowboats individually tailored to the owners needs and requirements. We're a company pushing the industry forward working on both state of the art Lithium Hybrid propelled boats, as well as traditional diesel powered craft.

Anyone that has, or is planning to have a boat, knows that conversation often, and quickly, reverts to 'toilet talk' 😊

Still relatively new to the boating world are diesel incinerator toilets - basically they use diesel and electric to burn your waste - both liquid & solid.

This means fewer stops to empty waste tanks or cassettes. It also frees up extra space onboard compared to having a pump out tank or extra cassettes, bar a little room needed for the flue and air intake, positioned behind the toilet.

Our latest build No.61 Narrowboat Brizzle, is launching next week and the owners opted for this type of toilet as pictured here.

The owners of a previous build No.59, Narrowboat Infinity also went the same way. And so too are the owners of upcoming builds No.62 & No.63, so they are proving to be a popular choice.

They are not a cheap option by any means, and require servicing but we think it's an innovative solution to an age old boating problem!

Although Leven came out of the fleet, and sold to new owners last year, they decided to over winter in Barton Marina.

Yesterday we said goodbye to her and her new owners for the final time, as they are relocating further south.

Thank you for your service Leven, you were one of the most popular boats that we even had in the fleet.

She arrived bright and early here at Stenson Marina, ready to be craned into the water for the very first time.

Just a few weeks worth of work to complete, and she'll be ready to handover to her owners. πŸ”‘ β›΅βš“

At the end of the season, when we wrap up the hire fleet after 22 years, we'll not only be saying goodbye to our fantastic guests, but all the wonderful dogs we've welcomed on board too. πŸΎπŸ•.

Our lovely Orla, still enjoys the odd narrowboat holiday, although at 14Β½ she's not as agile as she once was - just like her owners....πŸ˜‚

Only two weeks to go to the 2026 Electrika Boat Show on Friday 10th & Saturday 11th July.

This is a show for anyone interested in Hybrid Electric boating. As well as boats on display, you'll find a wealth of help and guidance on electric boating with free seminars and talks plus you'll able to chat to boat owners, boat builders and suppliers.

With the very kind permission of her owners, we'll be displaying the gorgeous narrowboat Infinity ♾️ (seen here), that we built and launched last year.

The boat was our 2nd collaboration with Ortomarine, who provided the serial hybrid system and large lithium battery bank. We have two more boats that we'll be working with them on too, later this year.
