M-SPORT ACQUIRES CUSTOM CAGES
M-Sport is pleased to announce the acquisition of a majority shareholding in Custom Cages Limited, the Daventry-based manufacturer of motorsport roll cages and tubular structures.
Established in 1985, Custom Cages has built a reputation as the UK's leading manufacturer of roll cage kits and tubular structures, supplying professional motorsport teams across a broad range of disciplines. The experienced team at Custom Cages have designed, developed, and manufactured roll cage solutions for a wide range of disciplines, including the World Rally Championship, World and British Touring Car Championships, and the Dakar Rally. Custom Cages are also specialists in tubular manipulation, producing components including tubular chassis, suspension parts, harness bars, and bespoke prototypes.
In the BTCC alone, Custom Cages has supplied roll cages to virtually the entire grid, a testament to the scale and consistency of their manufacturing operation. Their catalogue covers over 500 models from more than 50 manufacturers, with every cage produced to meet FIA and MSUK regulations.
Custom Cages has been a trusted supplier to M-Sport since 2005 (although the connection goes back over 30 years), originally supporting on the Fiesta ST Group N project, and now provides the roll cage tubing that forms a critical safety component across each and every one of the company’s production cars, mostly recently including the Ford Raptor T1+. The acquisition formalises and strengthens what has long been a close working relationship, securing supply chain continuity and opening new avenues for technical collaboration.
For M-Sport, the acquisition goes beyond securing a key component in the rally car supply chain. With Custom Cages' reach across GT3, touring car and rally programmes worldwide, the closer integration of the two businesses presents an opportunity to develop new commercial relationships and bring additional opportunities to both companies.
Operations at Custom Cages will continue as normal from the company's facility in Daventry, Northamptonshire. Outgoing director and shareholder Roger Nevitt departs the company after overseeing more than 40 years of consistent ownership, leaving day-to-day operations in the hands of remaining director Kevin Mawson.
