Another Gilera 180SP 2 stroke in need of the S.C Moto treatment. This tired example had sat for a long long time and needed fully recommissioning along with what can only be described as a full mechanical restoration.
This included a full service, full stainless steel aftermarket engine bush kit and new HEL braided brake hoses.

The customer had reported that the bike had low power before being stood up so
the cylinder was removed due to low compression readings and the piston was replaced with a genuine item and the engine pressure tested and the air leaks found were repaired.

Crank seals, water pump, thermostat and all service parts were replaced as well as fork oil and dust seals and all fuel and vacuum hoses.
Fuel gauge and temperature gauge faults repaired as customer had complained that these didn’t work.

The variator and master cylinders also replaced as these were damaged and could not be repaired.

Once all back together an extensive road test of some 40 miles was completed to give the engine a good run in and to ensure no further faults were evident after being in so many pieces. Bike ran faultlessly with lots of power and felt tight and smooth.
Customer was extremely happy with the results and has since recommended us to his friends with similar models.

Frame up full rebuild on this very unloved and abused Gilera Runner. The new owner wanted a full overhaul including many new tuning and one off parts including a custom TSAB Scorpion exhaust combo. Lovely little C90 cub in for Re-commissioning as it has been off the road for a long time, full service and MOT. Upon investigation the exhaust valve clearance was found to be unusually large and bike was found to have no compression. Upon strip down it was found that the exhaust valve was bent, most likely due to the piston hitting the open valve because of it sitting for a long time and the valve seizing in the valve guide. Small Indentations also found on the inlet valve so this is being replaced whilst it is apart along with all new gaskets and o’rings. Engine is now back together and a full service has carried out including new front fork bushes. Returned with a full year’s MOT to the happy customer.

This lovely old vice has been in my wife’s family for decades, her grandad used it many moons ago before sadly passing away so had sat unloved for years. Saved from the scrap pile and fully restored by us to sit proudly in our new workshop. They don’t make them like this anymore, what an awesome piece of old school engineering. 👌🏻

So here we have the S.C Moto runaround. Saved from scrap, it had been dry stored for 10 years but needed a fair amount of work to bring it up to a road worthy condition. Here are a few before and after pics to show the level of work that had to be undertaken. Having worked on these scooters for much of my early career it was nice to get back to basics and get a good result at the end. Enjoy.
