Another Gilera 180SP 2 stroke in need of the S.C Moto treatment. This tired example had sat for a long long time and needed fully recommissioning along with what can only be described as a full mechanical restoration.
This included a full service, full stainless steel aftermarket engine bush kit and new HEL braided brake hoses.
The customer had reported that the bike had low power before being stood up so
the cylinder was removed due to low compression readings and the piston was replaced with a genuine item and the engine pressure tested and the air leaks found were repaired.
Crank seals, water pump, thermostat and all service parts were replaced as well as fork oil and dust seals and all fuel and vacuum hoses.
Fuel gauge and temperature gauge faults repaired as customer had complained that these didn’t work.
The variator and master cylinders also replaced as these were damaged and could not be repaired.
Once all back together an extensive road test of some 40 miles was completed to give the engine a good run in and to ensure no further faults were evident after being in so many pieces. Bike ran faultlessly with lots of power and felt tight and smooth.
Customer was extremely happy with the results and has since recommended us to his friends with similar models.
