This morning, I went out to a new customer with a 2024 Yamaha XMax. He bought it 600miles or 5months ago from a bike dealer. I drained the engine oil and found pretty much nothing came out!
Lesson is, check your oil regularly and even if a dealer says it has had a service before it was sold. This definitely didn't have a service, or maybe they forgot to add oil?
As for this bike, it doesn't seem to have caused anything noticeable damage being run with low oil.

A service on a very early Vtech VFR800. The brake and clutch fluid have definitely seen better days.

Last December I went to look at this Kawasaki KZ1100 based trike. The engine started and ran fine and the owner just wanted a service. I mentioned the exhaust had a really bad exhaust leak and I ended up taking the exhaust on as a project. The plan was to take a 4into1 Delkevik system made for the KZ1100 and modify it to fit the trike setup. So the brand new headers were sliced up and I only had the old heavy pipes to copy during winter. So today I ended up fitting the whole system and it fit first time and needed no modification (other than a slight angle adjustment). The engine started up and ran fine however the amount of rain we've had recently meant the fuel tank had a good amount of water in and I found the fuel tap to be stuck on. New tap on order. Before fitting the exhaust I changed the engine oil and filter. Given how low the trike is I have made the pipes fit close to the belly of the frame and engine. It might make future servicing a bit tricky! But now the headers can be removed separately from the rest of the system at least.

A little bit of work on this Yamaha XS400. It's a 1981 model with an original ignitor unit which is still working. I had to fit new battery leads, starter solenoid, wire in the fuse box and new ignition switch. The original wiring is still in reasonable shape. For it's time this bike had electric starter, kick start back up and digital ignition system.

Lexmoto LXR. Broke down last week, wouldn't start for the owner. I found a few issues, which sort of made improvements but ultimately the bike was very hard to start but once running it idled and revved up fine. Only after removing the fuel injector and reinstalling then the bike started up normally (without a lot of holding the throttle until it ran).
I can only assume there was a leak around the injector and leading the map sensor to misread. Anyway fixed!
Few bolts missing on fuel tank that I added, and I charged the battery up

The XJ750 carbs are back together. I just need to source some new mixture screws and a drain screw and these can go on the engine to see if it will start.

We've got 2 types of silicone for the float bowls, soldered float, and broken float post.
