One of our latest highlights @ Braithwaites’

2016/65 just 27,000 miles on the clock.

New galvanised side frame assemblies fitted.

Fire & Ice side steps fitted, with a HD, matte powder coat finish, cheaper alternatives tend to rust prematurely! All four arches repainted as they were suffering with lacquer peel, we also replaced both side valance panels due to corrosion.
A nice valet to finish it off before collection.

Chassis treatment & a complete major service including online service history update. ✅

Chassis coatings need to look great but also need to add a layer of protection against the elements. We tick both those boxes!

Great to see such a low mileage example.

We’re in the process of updating our website to give you a better insight to what we’re all about.

This has given us the chance to take a look back at some of our past restorations.

Now this was one of the worst but equally one of the best & definitely too good not to share once more. Although the outer shell looked relatively tidy, there wasn’t a nut or bolt that wasn’t corroded to almost nothing. Every jubilee clip had burst or rotted away, the bulkhead was folded in half & put in the bin!
Pulleys seized, intercooler hoses turned to dust. Callipers seized, it didn’t stand much hope.

But we saved her! 🔧

Next chassis replacement out the door.

This time, a lovely 300tdi 90.

This was to be our last Marsland Chassis, a very sad day but the Defender Marsland Chassis is now no longer available.

Along with a new clutch, bushes, suspension, timing belt & anything that needed to be replaced.

Another cracking 90, saved from extinction!

After this MT82 lost 3rd gear it was time for a new box & after a quick call to Ashcroft Transmissions, we soon had a nice shiney one to replace it.

Fitted with a new AP clutch & genuine LR slave + pipework. It is now back on the road & better than ever.

Another Defender & another crossmember replacement.

This time a 90 that had failed its MOT due to numerous issues but the main one being chassis corrosion (crossmember).
This client was advised the vehicle needed a new chassis but after we had a good look, the chassis was really good, apart from the back end.

We have removed all the badness and fitted a nice new solid one! Filled with wax to prevent future corrosion.

A new galvanised tank cradle, galvanised rear spring seats and retainers, new shock absorbers, exhaust & we also replaced the rear light cappings & had the rear quarters repainted to tidy it up!

Fresh MOT, complete service & back on the road for a happy & very appreciative customer after advising he didn’t need to spend ££££ on a new chassis this time around.

Old or new? We’re lucky to own both here @ Braithwaite Engineering - Specialists In Land Rover

Our 90 although almost standard, still benefits from all the factory XS options.

Our 110 is a HSE X-Dynamic, again benefitting from all the factory options fitted.

Both are fantastic but as we all know in two completely different leagues.

We offer a complete service program for both vehicles & restoration/repair on the ‘proper’ Defender/Series vehicles.

The wife will only drive one of them without any remarks, can you guess which one! 🤣

We have brought another Defender back to life.

This time around it’s a TD5 90, suffering with the usual lacquer peel, the majority of Oslo blue Land Rovers suffered with the same problem.

Having already fitted a new chassis to this one previously, it was now time for the body work to be addressed. Completely stripping the paint from the majority of panels.

New galvanised cappings & stripped for paint.

Re assembled with stainless fittings & new seals.

Shining in the sun, it looks great. 😎
