Hi everyone! Couple of announcements from the garage.
We are running a free summer health check - no booking required, this will run until the middle of July 2021.
We would also like to remind everyone whose MOT was extended last year due to COVID that you should now begin to think about booking your car in for its MOT as there will be a backlog for garages to deal with. Some of our customers will remember that it was a real struggle to get a booking for an MOT last year so we would urge those of you who have one falling due in the next short space of time to please think about booking now.

Hi everyone. This is just a wee message to all our customers to let you know that Arthur is retiring at the end of December, and would like to thank you all for your support throughout his 10 years in Mayfield.

AJS will continue as normal, being run by Jimmy and the boys. The garage will close on Christmas Eve, and reopen on 4th January 2021.

We wish you a very Merry Christmas and a happier New Year. Happy Motoring!

Hi everyone. We have been overwhelmed at the kindness and support of all our customers since we reopened the garage this week. This strange new world that we find ourselves in is hard for a wee business, and we were not sure if we would survive it. But we have been so busy and are struggling to keep up with all your needs. So thank you so much everyone for still being there for us, and we do genuinely apologise for the phone situation as it is ringing off the hook and the message box is constantly full.

Our lovely, talented customer Mr Brunton painted this to cheer up our reception.

We feel very lucky to have your support in these difficult times. Don't underestimate how much this means to us.

Hi everyone. We wanted to update you with our plans. The garage will open for business on Monday 22nd June, with the standard COVID protection processes and procedures in place. We will be taking bookings from Monday 15th June for our usual MOTs, services and repairs.

There will be controls in place so that only one customer/family will be allowed into the reception area at a time to allow for appropriate social distancing.

We hope you have all stayed safe and well, and we look forward to welcoming you back to the garage.

Hi everyone. We wanted to let you know that due to the ongoing and worsening situation with the coronavirus we have taken the decision today to close the garage until the government advises that it is safe for businesses to reopen.

We hope you all stay safe and well. We wish you all the best. We will continue to keep this page updated as the situation develops.

Please be aware that if your MOT is due from 30 March onwards our information is that it will be automatically extended for 6 months, so you will not have to worry about it at the moment.

Our information is that there is some leniency around late MOTs. Please don't worry if we cannot book you in before yours runs out. We are frantically busy but we will get to you.

If you are an NHS worker we will try doubly hard to help you...we don't normally do favouritism but we have to admit that right now you are our favourites!

Hi everyone - we have had further information this morning that suggests garages are exempt from the lock down and should stay open as they are providing a critical service. However, it seems that parts suppliers are closed therefore we will be restricted with what we can do.

Bottom line : give us a call and we will, as always, help you if we can. MOTs don't require parts so they won't be a problem.

Hi everyone. Due to government guidelines we will have to close, being a "Non-essential business ". If you are booked in today for any reason and you haven't been contacted, one of our directors will be in touch with you later on this morning.

Meanwhile if your MOT is due you can follow guidelines from Police Scotland below as all responsible garages will be closed.

Any vehicle that needs a first MOT (annual test) before 31 March 2020
Email DVSA if your vehicle requires its first MOT before 31 March 2020 and you have not been able to have the vehicle tested.

You need to include your:

name
phone number
address
vehicle registration number (number plate), vehicle identification number or trailer ID
First MOT exemptions
[email protected]

Make sure your email has the subject heading ‘First test exemptions’.

Your lorry, bus or trailer will be exempt from needing an MOT for 3 months from 21 March 2020. You might need to apply for this, depending on your vehicle.
