At Bonnygate Garage - Cupar we do all shapes and sizes of jobs. Here’s some snaps 📷 of a rather large job we did in the workshop recently. 🔧

This is the rear hydraulic anti-roll bar on a Range Rover Sport. It uses an advanced hydraulic circuit that applies hydraulic fluid pressure to actively control the vehicles body roll, allowing for enhanced handling both on-road and off-road.

However, as seen in the photos below, the hydraulic fluid within the bar can be prone to leaking. To gain access to the anti-roll bar we had to separate the vehicle body from the chassis.

We’ve been pretty busy here for the last couple of weeks so here’s a few snaps 📷 of a job we did in the workshop recently.

This was a turbo failure; there was an oil warning on the dash and lack of power. During our investigation we found excessive play, in the turbo turbine. The turbo blades have hit the turbo housing wall causing the blades to bend. The excessive play has also lead to engine oil getting past the turbo seal as seen in the pictures. This lead to the vehicle requiring a new turbo and oil filter change.

With the cold weather 🥶 coming in, now is the perfect time to come get your car battery checked at Bonnygate Garage - Cupar.

The incoming Winter ❄️ can affect your car’s battery in a variety of ways. The bad weather, shorter colder days mean we use more electrical components such as heater, lights, wipers etc. leading to an increase in demand of electricity. The low temperature also reduces your battery's ability to deliver and store power 🪫 by slowing down its chemical reaction 🧪. These reasons and many others can cause your battery to start having problems which can develop into bigger issues e.g. difficulty starting your car, permanent damage to the battery or a ‘dead’ battery.

There are some steps that can be taken to minimise the risk of your battery failing:
- Keep your battery fully charged
- Park inside, if possible, to reduce exposure
- Turn any power drains off when parked e.g. wipers, lights, radio etc
- Drive your car regularly for at least 30-minute trips
- Consider a smart charge if you only take short trips
- Get your car regularly checked by a professional 👨‍🔧

When was the last time you had your vehicle serviced? 🤔

Regular servicing 🔧 is important for any driver as it can improve your vehicles efficiency, reliability and safety, as well as prevent any future costly breakdowns and repairs.

At Bonnygate Garage - Cupar we provide Interim or Major routine servicing which is carried out to your manufacturer’s specification. We also replace all parts included in the service with ones that are the same grade and quality as the manufactures use.

Our Interim/Basic service focuses on the essential elements of your vehicle such as brakes, battery, steering, suspension, wheels, tyres and fluid levels as well as replacing your oil and filter. Whereas our Major/Full service is a comprehensive check of your whole vehicle including a full diagnostic scan, fluid top up and changing any filter required by manufactures specifications. 📋

Checking your legal tyre tread depth is one of the most important checks you can make on your car.
The tyres are the only contact point between your vehicle and the road. If your tyres are past their best then the safety of your vehicle will be compromised.

Driving a car with bald tyres can risk a fine of £2,500 and three penalty points. That’s per tyre, too. If all four tyres are worn below the legal limit, you could potentially lose your licence and face a £10,000 fine.

We have been quiet on here for a while due to being extremely busy at the garage and with holidays. Rest assured though we are still working away even in this unbelievable heat 🥵
