❄️ Winter Road Recovery – Icy Conditions ❄️
Another successful roadside recovery completed by H&H Recovery in challenging winter conditions.
This incident involved a vehicle that lost traction on an untreated, icy rural road and slid into the verge. Due to the steep gradient, compacted ice, and restricted visibility, the recovery required a three-man operation to be carried out safely.
Two recovery operators attended, with a dedicated buffer vehicle positioned to block the road, ensuring full traffic management and scene safety. Once the area was secured, a controlled winch recovery was completed, returning the vehicle back onto the carriageway without further damage.
⚠️ Driver reminder: rural roads can remain dangerously icy long after sunrise. Reduced speed, smooth inputs, and extra stopping distance are essential in winter conditions.

Another roadside recovery safely dealt with today.

We attended a single-vehicle road traffic collision where the car had left the carriageway and overturned into a ditch. Thankfully, the driver was out of the vehicle when we arrived.

The vehicle was stabilised, carefully recovered from the verge, and loaded onto the truck without causing further damage or disruption to the road. Traffic was kept moving and the scene was cleared as quickly and safely as possible.

Jobs like this are a reminder that conditions can catch anyone out — take it handy, especially on rural roads.

The roads are alot more slippery than they look , with the temperatures dropping recently keep your distance at least 10 times the usual , don't accelerate hard , and don't brake to fast as this may cause you to slide and spin . Drive slow !!
