🔧 2010 Skoda Fabia – ABS Pump Running Continuously
We recently attended a 2010 Skoda Fabia after the customer reported that the ABS pump was continuously running, even with the ignition switched off.
We started by connecting our diagnostic equipment and pulling the vehicle’s fault codes. This revealed a voltage supply fault code relating to the ABS system.
From there, we carried out a number of checks to establish whether the issue was being caused by an external power supply problem.
🔹 Checked the relevant power supplies
🔹 Checked the electrical side of the system
🔹 Confirmed the power supplies were operating correctly
🔹 Disconnected the ABS module to see whether the pump would stop
🔹 Tested the ABS module using our diagnostic equipment
🔹 Attempted to control the pump through the diagnostic system
When the ABS module was disconnected, the pump stopped running.
We were also able to communicate with and attempt to control the ABS system using our diagnostic equipment, but the pump continued running regardless of the command being sent.
After carrying out our testing and researching the fault, the evidence points towards an internal fault with the ABS module/pump assembly rather than an external power supply issue.
💷 A brand-new replacement unit can cost in the region of £400–£600, so we’ve sourced a suitable replacement unit at a significantly more sensible price.
The replacement part is expected to arrive by Monday at the latest, at which point we’ll return to the vehicle and carry out the repair and further testing.
Another example of why proper diagnostics before replacing expensive components can save money and avoid unnecessary parts replacement.
