๐ Something I want to say honestly, because I think it matters.
Louis passed this week after just 13 lessons, 100 days after turning 17. He was incredible. A natural talent who showed real ability from the very start, and we pushed him every step of the way because he showed us he was ready.
But I want to be straight with you, because I think the people around you deserve that honesty.
Louis is not the usual journey. And that is completely fine.
For most pupils, learning to drive takes longer. Sometimes a lot longer. And the reasons are never about intelligence, effort or how much someone wants their licence. Driving is about mindset as much as mechanics. Being able to control a car is only half the battle. The real skill, the thing that keeps you and everyone around you safe for the rest of your life, is learning to identify hazards before they even develop. To read the road. To think three steps ahead. That takes time to build properly, and it should.
I see people trying to save money by rushing through lessons, skipping weeks, or pushing for a test date before they are genuinely ready. I understand why. Lessons cost money and the temptation to get it done quickly is real.
But here is the thing. You can always earn money again. You only get one chance with the people you love.
At The Driving Instructor, we will never hold a pupil back if they are ready. If you show us the ability and the mindset, we will absolutely push with you. But we will only ever send you to test when it is safe to do so, not when it feels convenient, not when the budget runs out, and not when the pressure feels too much to ignore.
Trust the professionals. We are not here to take your money. We are here to make sure you come home.
