Just an Update…..
Just after our photo shoot, and what we thought was a finished restoration of the Marshall 854.
It looked great, but during our final test run and check over we discovered a major issue,
it wouldn’t select or stay in the high gear ratio due to a badly worn selector.
Because the tractor arrived at our part of the workshop as a bare engine and skid unit from a past company,
who assured us it was all throughly checked and repaired, we had no way to test any mechanical’s and the gears until the build was finished.
This discovery was a real blow for us.
So we seeked guidance from retired Marshall experts, who all spoke of a daunting strip down removal of the cab, remove the axle trumpets,
pull out the gearbox, and do a total teardown of the gearbox.
All this from a totally overlooked issue!!
Costing us extra time in labour for one worn out selector.
So we got our thinking caps on, and came up with an idea 🤔
Yesterday Test run part two was a complete success - the high gear was selecting and staying in,
So our idea we had, saved all the extra work, time and expense involved with removing and the strip down of the cab and gearbox etc.
Proud of the team for getting through this and sorting the issue 👌🏻👍🏻
