Bellamy's Driving School offers manual and automatic tuition, giving learners the choice as to which transmission they wish to learn.

Whilst learning in a manual car gives the choice of driving either after passing the practical test it is not for everyone.

Choose what is right for you! That may mean learning in an automatic. 🚘

Tuesday was DOUBLE TEST DAY!

I try and avoid two tests on the same day if I can as logistically it can be difficult.

Tuesday was not a normal double test day. The first test was at 11:01. The second test was straight after at 12:28. Normally there is just 57 minutes between tests. Thankfully the extra time in between them was down to the Examiner’s lunch break. 😅

With some logistical assistance from family members of both learners at the swap over it allowed Keira to still have a little ‘warm-up’ drive ahead of her test.

Two FIRST time passes ✅

Congratulations to Keira Booth on passing her practical driving test at Crawley test centre on Tuesday afternoon (16/06/26). It was a great FIRST TIME pass with only four driver faults.

Keira contacted me a few weeks ago asking about an intensive course ahead of her test. Not having a lot of time to work with we were able to carry out an assessment a short time afterwards and agreed that a 12 hour course spread over three sessions would get her to test standard.

Not living locally Keira travelled to Crawley from Purley for each session. This enabled her to fine tune her knowledge and gain some experience of the area. The private practice that she had done with family certainly helped things along the way.

Well done Keira, it was pleasing to hear the result when the examiner told you that you had passed. It was great to see you develop over the sessions, resulting in the positive outcome you deserved.

With a car waiting at home for you, when you take that first solo drive, remember what you have learnt and keep safe.

Congratulations to Idriss Syassi on passing his practical driving test at Crawley test centre on Tuesday morning (16/06/26). It was a great FIRST TIME pass with only four driver faults!

Well done Idriss, it's been quite a journey but once we had the test date in the diary you worked hard to make sure you got there. It was great to hear the examiner tell you that you had passed. Have fun searching for a car. I know driving will make getting to and from work so much easier for you.

When you do get yourself a car and go out for that first solo drive remember what you have learnt and keep safe.

Zoe Lintern, 16, was back at Dunsfold for her second driving experience at the Young Drivers Track on Saturday afternoon.

Well done Zoe, you were soon back into things and remembered what you had done previously. It allowed us to introduce new things ahead of you starting your lessons on the road next week.

Have a great birthday on Tuesday, enjoy that first lesson on the road and wow your instructor with your knowledge. Then go and smash the theory test on Wednesday.

On Friday afternoon I met with Crawley’s MP Peter Lamb at his local surgery to discuss the ongoing issues concerning driving tests.

Peter Lamb had a sympathetic ear and understood the strain instructors and learners face whilst dealing with the waiting times for driving tests.

He acknowledges that driving instructors should be able to assist learners with the booking process and those who have not be exploiting the system should not be penalised. He said he will raise the issues we discussed with the Transport Secretary.

He also acknowledged that the only way the waiting times will come down will be through an increase in test capacity, alongside a reduction of test wastage.

I did say that the issues had been in place since Covid and previous attempts to reduce the waiting times, under either Government in charge, had failed so far to bear any fruits.

I also mentioned that it seems apparent that the DVSA are not listening to any concerns from DIA or any other association within NASP.

Peter Lamb did say he would check how the legislation was written to see if there is room for change without it having to go through the whole Parliamentary process.

I did say that had the timeline of the changes that have been implemented been done differently, with the most recent changes being made earlier, then restricting others than the learner booking and managing their test may not have been needed at all.
