Mia Balchin, 16, had a session at the Young Drivers Track at Dunsfold on Sunday morning.

Well done Mia, it was good to see you remembered some things from the previous time you had spent at the track and was soon getting into the swing of things.

With some access limitations in place it allowed us to do a few different reversing exercises. You took on the challenge of a ‘turn in the road’ in a narrow section of road, before getting yourself into a parking space, both forward and reverse.

The skills learnt today will help prepare you nicely for when you are able to start lessons on the road next year.

Congratulations to Marcus Burnell-Spector on passing his practical driving test at Crawley test centre on Thursday afternoon (08/10/25) with only a few driver faults.

Marcus contacted me earlier in April asking about an intensive course. He had been given my details by a friend who had completed an intensive course a couple of years ago. At the time of his enquiry Marcus hadn’t passed the theory test so we delayed doing an assessment until that was done. He advised that he had had some driving lessons previously but wanted to do an intensive course to complete his learning. As he didn’t live locally we agreed to meet at Three Bridges Station for any assessment and subsequent lessons.

After doing an initial assessment at the end of June we discussed options of doing either a 20 hour or 24 hour intensive course. Whilst we had hoped to complete a 24 hour course we were only able to actually do 20 hours ahead of his first test.

Whilst Marcus didn’t get the positive outcome he wanted with the test at the end of the course he put that behind him and was able to book another test for six weeks later.

Before completing some refresher training Marcus had been able to review the dashcam footage from his test to reflect on the issues that he had encountered. We then completed a further four hours training, using the hours carried over from the intensive course. During that time we refreshed his knowledge and ironed out his previous mistakes. This led to him being able to achieve the pass he had worked hard for.

Well done Marcus, it great to hear the examiner tell you that you had passed. There was some good, positive, feedback from the examiner that you should be pleased with. Also take note of the guidance he offered going forward too.

Have fun looking for a car. When you have that first drive on your own remember what you have learned and keep safe.

Bellamy's Driving School offers manual and automatic tuition, giving learners the choice as to which transmission they wish to learn.

Whilst learning in a manual car gives the choice of driving either after passing the practical test it is not for everyone.

Choose what is right for you! That may mean learning in an automatic. 🚘

Whilst opportunities for intensive courses before the end of 2026 have been snapped up, bookings are now open in 2027 until the end of March.

Our intensive and semi-intensive courses are designed to help learners progress quickly and confidently, with course lengths tailored to suit your current level of experience.

An initial assessment lesson will be carried out to evaluate your driving ability before recommending the most suitable course duration.

Unfortunately we are no longer able to book a practical test on your behalf due to recent changes implemented by the DVSA. The DVSA are still allowing tests to be swapped between learners and we can help facilitate that to find a suitable date if you have a test booked.

A lesson with a difference today.

I was contacted a couple of week ago by a former student who passed their test over 2 years ago stating they still hadn’t been on the motorway.

With no set destination in mind of where they wanted to go we headed up the M23, before joining the westbound carriageway of the M25.

We then had a brief stop at Cobham Services. From there we rejoined the M25 and headed east towards junction 6 at Godstone.

We used the junction to turn round before heading back to Crawley on the M23, leaving at junction 11.

It wasn’t as “bad” as they thought it was going to be. Hopefully the session will have helped them overcome any anxiety they had and they will be out on the motorway themselves again soon. 🤞

An update on my fundraiser for St Catherine's Hospice, Crawley.

When I booked the tandem skydive at the beginning of August I set a fundraising target of £500. In truth I didn’t think I’d reach that amount in the time that I had ahead of the original jump date.

The weather decided twice that it wasn’t going to play ball and the skydive finally took place four weeks after the original date.

By Sunday the fundraiser was up to £700. Some more donations came in on Sunday and over subsequent days. Another came in yesterday morning and the Justgiving page now sits at £850, with over £130 to be added via Gift Aid.

I am truly grateful for everyone who has supported the skydive and donated to my fundraiser.

Its not too late to donate if you are able to. Any amount, large or small, would be really appreciated.
