The roads are extremely icy out there today Driving on icy roads is basically a trust exercise between you, your car, and physics. Physics is not on your side. Here’s some quirky but actually useful advice so you don’t end up starring in your own low-budget disaster documentary:
❄️ Pretend there’s a bowl of soup on your dashboard
Accelerate, brake, and steer like you’ll ruin your life if you spill it. Smooth. Gentle. No sudden heroics.
❄️ Drive like everyone else is a liability
Because they are. Especially Dave in the white van who thinks ice is just “a bit of frost.”
❄️ Slow is not embarrassing, it’s elite
Anyone can go fast. Staying upright is the real flex.
❄️ Leave a gap big enough to question your life choices
If you think you’re far enough back, double it. Ice laughs at normal stopping distances.
❄️ Brake like you’re apologising
Soft, early, and with deep regret. Stamping the brakes just tells the car to panic.
❄️ If you skid, don’t fight it like it insulted your family
Ease off pedals, steer gently where you want to go, and let the car sort itself out. Drama makes it worse.
❄️ Hills are optional, pride is not
If a hill looks sketchy, it probably is. Turn around. No one needs to prove anything today.
❄️ Tyres matter more than confidence
Confidence won’t grip the road. Tyres might. Check them before trusting your life to vibes.
Bottom line: icy roads reward patience, humility, and people who accept that arriving late is better than arriving sideways. Stay shiny-side up.
