Discovery in this week for a pair of replacement front springs, sourced from dealer and fitted ready for the customer within the day.

Alongside this I’ve been very busy so there’s a delay on quotes and replies at the moment while I focus on what I’ve got in the workshop, to name a few from this week:

T5 Caravelle in for BCM removal/testing/replacement and coding.

Mercedes sprinter fleet vehicle for front and rear discs and pads and a track rod.

Nissan Qashqai for MOT prep - front and rear discs and pads, 2x lower arms on the front a diesel filter to remove contamination, extract and replace 4 locking bolts (missing key), some bulbs and refitting an alternator bolt that hadn’t even been tightened by a previous mechanic 🙄

VW Golf for a full service, inspection, rear discs and pads and a battery.

Ford Kuga in for oil leak investigation and repair.

Ford ranger fleet vehicle in for a service and inspection.

Fiat 500 for inspection and service, EML diagnostics and repair.

And whatever else in between!!

Started the week with WDT Plastering & Rendering Solutions Transit in for one of the most hammered clutches I’ve seen in a while! Luckily caught in time before it caused a real issue.

New clutch and flywheel, In and out with a full service to keep operation running smoothly in a couple of hours so Wez can take advantage of the dry weather!

Hello everyone, just a small business update:

From this month onwards I am now VAT registered so all invoices are now + VAT.

Despite rising costs my labour rate will remain the same as it has been for 2 years. I hope to still be able to provide a fair and fast service for everyone and still come in as one of the cheaper labour rates in the area.

I now accept all major cards via online payment and Tap to Pay on iPhone, this means Klarna and credit cards can now be used however there is an additional charge on these payments of up to 4% (depending on card, most are 1.4%) - Bank transfer or Cash are still preferred payment methods. 💳

OBD plug ins will now be charged (£20+VAT), I used to do them for free but this service seems to have been exploited over the past few months so now will be chargeable - if the vehicle is then booked in for repair this charge will be removed from the overall repair cost.

As always, I remain incredibly grateful to all of my customers over the years and for the most part there’s no real changes - even with being vat registered most services will only see an average cost rise of £30-50, cash is still (and always will be) accepted 💵👑

Had the pleasure of working on Ford Ranger this past week, in for some love to get her running right 💨

EML, AdBlue and DPF diagnostics and repair.
ABS light sorted.
A small service and full check over, some suspension and brake work and it’s back to how it should be running.

DS3 with the 1.2 puretech wet belt engine in for replacement belt this week, due to being let down by the dealers who sold the vehicle without properly inspecting or advising the customer on service intervals etc.

A flickering oil pressure light gave them an early warning. Popped the sump off and as expected, found the strainer full of belt debris.
Fortunately the customer stopped the engine immediately both times, we made them aware of potential issues with oil starvation and they chose to go ahead with a wet belt replacement.

All genuine new parts fitted and strainer cleaned out, starts up and runs as it should. One lucky engine!

This same engine is in your Vauxhall Mokkas and Peugeots, so check it and contact us for replacement!

Can tell spring is round the corner, I’m getting back to my usual busy weeks!
Thanks everyone for their support, here’s a few we’ve got done this week - all in and out within 24HRS:

T5 2.5AXD in for limp mode fault, diagnosed and repaired 2 running issues. Turbo replacement and fuel temp sensor, oil and filter replacement with a full check over.

Transit tipper in for full service, check over and rear pad replacement.

Transit fleet vehicle in for diagnosis/repair and a tyre replacement.

Toyota hilux in for pre-MOT check, oil change, 2x ball joints, 2x ARB links, coil spring and MOT collection/delivery.

Skoda Octavia for a small service.

Ford fiesta in for full service, check over, wing mirror replacement, front pads, 2x lower arms and 3 tyres.

Citroen in for a coil spring, shock and top mount and a full check over.

VW T4 diagnose and repair none start issue.

T6: Full check over, Boot opening issue diag and repair, oil service and all fluids check/top up, rear spring replacement, rear pads and discs replaced, noise on start up diag and repair, EML part diag, Adblue top up.
All done for less than £600

Caddy: Full check over, EML and Boost leak diagnosis and repair, including full smoke test and EGR work, stage 1 remap, subframe bush repair.
Less than £420

T4: MOT pre-check, service, lower ball joint, front pads, diag and repair horn issue, fix sticky throttle and a couple of bulbs, MOT collection and delivery.
Less than £400

And also a Ford ranger (fleet vehicle so no pictures) for a full service, MOT pre check, MOT collection/delivery, 2x lower arms, ARB link, front pads.
Among a couple of other little jobs in between!

Sportage in this week for clutch judder and struggling to get gears. A strip down found the clutch springs snapped and the friction plate starting to split.

Kia wanted 140+ for the clutch, 140+ for the friction plate, 128+ for 2L of oil and 228+ for the slave cylinder - Trade! £763.20 total just for parts! Unreal prices.

We sourced an OE quality aftermarket clutch kit, gearbox oil, slave cylinder, replaced 2 callipers, rear discs and pads all fitted for less than what it would’ve cost just for genuine parts.
