Another long term storage car gone today ..
poor GT6 has been sat in our yard for over 2 years now ..
The owner didn’t collect it when we finished our work on it , he then became ill , now his sons took the car on , gave it a quick service and made sure it started first pull again ..
rear bumper has suffered the most . Shame as the car was lovely.. just goes to show if you don’t use these cars and leave them outside they soon deteriorate..
hope it gets garaged from now on.
Like I always say it’s not the cars fault it’s going rusty .. it’s the owners !!!

1965 Plymouth Barracuda done and gone back to its owner .
Rach had the lovely task of getting an already stripped car ( two other garages ) had a go at it .. lost most of the parts , back to a running driving stopping car ..
most of the parts supplied we found out to be rusty Nissan or Toyota parts in a broken plastic box ..
Anyway all parts were slowly found at RockAuto or made in our workshop ..
Rebuilt engine and box , made our own ignition system as original one had been chopped out .. the car was a mess to begin with ..
Fantastic job done by Rach once again .. attention to detail was well worth the effort . Now back with its happy customer.

Building up both door shells this week and fitting interior back in ..
Rach doing her bit with the original carpet set still in good condition just 50 odd years of dirt in it .. posh carpet shampoo and a good scrub 👌and cleaning up all the seats and panels with auto glym vinyl restore .
Fingers crossed engine fire up and test drive towards the end of next week ..
still got it’s Spitfire wider wheels to paint too but getting close ..

Busy cleaning parts building Bexley Herald up
Totally forgot about fuel tank which has been in customers upstairs storage area ..
So spent all yesterday afternoon and today bare metalling the tank and stripped the heater motor box apart for the same de rust and bare metal .. epoxy sealer , 2k primer and 3 coats of 2k deep black gloss ..
just finished and was well worth the extra effort to do it properly rather than just paint it with a brush or spray cans 👌👌

lots has been going on behind the scenes.. too much to be honest..
public apology time …
we got in a bit of a mess trying to keep everyone happy with several cars but doing a bit on each accomplishments nothing ..
So .. next couple of weeks are dedicated to finishing Bexley Herald ..
Taken far too long .. we had the car in for a recommission , welding and paint .. struck a deal on cost .. but decided to do a proper nice job for Owners Mum really ..was her husband’s car and wanted her to get the car back good as new .. We basically stripped the car rite down ( not body off ) and started work ..finding the car to be in a lot worse state after pulling filler and castrol GTX cans as repairs out of everywhere..
We kept to the Estimate then I fell behind on work due to health reasons which hurt us in many ways as it’s only Me and my partner doing the restoration work .. we farm nothing out so it does take time unfortunately..
Long story short we’ve honoured the estimate cost but at a cost to ourselves..
Now we’re back up to speed Bexley will be the first car finished in list of customer cars in Coventry and wales.
Can’t wait to see the owners face when it’s delivered back soon .
The next cars will be
Dave Thomas Mk1 2000
Jim Chalmers GT6

With smaller jobs going on too as they pay the bills ( restoration work always ends up costing us time )

Cars we have on the list :-
*Jim Chalmers MK3 GT6
Full paint and assemble ..tuned 2.5 webers and uprated od box .
*Dave Thomas MK1 2000
Full body repair , weld paint , uprated suspension, tuned 2.5 and od box .
*Ian Wilds GT6 , painted running , driving and back to Ian to finish trim ect .
*Dave Knowles 1600 Rally Vitesse , full body repair , paint , new chassis ,engine rebuild and uprated od box with all rally car requirements put in place. *David Wythe Vitesse Coupe , rectify badly welded shell and bonnet , Paint and finish assembly .
* Jim Thomason Dolomite Sprint . Colour change from green to orange , fit engine and build car up with all painted suspension, original interior.
*Todd Bermudez Mk1 2000 , recommission , uprated suspension, new 2.5 engine and od box , all ready to complete the Club triumph Ten countries run next year ..
*Daves 1600 vitesse chassis change running driving and ready to be shipped to USA when done .

So .. public apologies done and all upto date ..

We still have two cars waiting for customer decisions, Silas Spitfire MK3 , wanting 2.5 pi motor fitted and converted to LHD ,
Also David’s 1600 vitesse saloon . We did all the panel work on the shell 2 years ago and stored it for free since then .. 🤷🏼‍♂️

As many of you will know I spend half my time in Coventry and the other half In wales ..
I want to spend a bit more time in wales so will be moving some customer projects down there ..
Leaving a nice big space for roughly 6 cars storage .. will be ready Autumn and ready for winter and next year for car storage for Classics .
We will also be able offer service / maintenance to the cars before they get used at any point .. posh fluffy car covers provided trickle charge and best of all heated .
Food for thought .. wont be for a few months till we’re ready .. 👌

we’re fitting new led lights and filter change in the next few weeks .. 👌

Following on with Bexley .. rear floors all cleaned up and old loose underseal scraped off .. rust treated , stone chip protection then painted .
Both rear driveshafts rebuilt with new bearings ujs brake shoes cylinders hoses and brake lines all new and cleaned rust off everything then painted up black .
Nice NOS pair of monroe radialmatic shocks fitted new bushes bolts nuts all done .
Will finish underneath with a spray black waxoil in the corners but only after the cars painted . Wax particles don’t mix well with 2k white 19 .
Building up front suspension next week and finally rolling again ..

Little Bexley Herald update ..
with body work now finished including the very rusty bonnet next was chassis .. strip cleaned front end and painted then onto rear end of chassis ..
knew it required a boot rigger but wasn’t expecting main rails to be so rotten ..
the under-seal hid it very well indeed.. anyway all cut out repaired and new boot riggers in place .
2 days chipping off all the old underseal which was hiding more rust . Only surface though . Chemically Treated and ready for new stone guard .
Drive shafts coming off today for refurb and will have new shocks and swing spring fitted once the rear floor and chassis is stone guard and painted .
Once he’s rolling again the car will go back into paint booth and be painted white 19.. 👌

Just fantastic news .
Dave Hiscock has worked wonders on MB1 the First ever production Triumph 2000 off the line .
After being abandoned to the elements for over 40 years Dave has got the engine running .. fantastic effort as we well know everything was locked up solid with rust ..

Christmas Sunday treat to myself ..
eventually putting power cables from boot to starter motor and sorting electrical systems/ fuel to try and fire up my TR7 for first time ..
Been a few years waiting ..
Iv even bought a gallon of fuel and charged a battery up .. 🤞
