It is with great sadness that we share that John passed away on Friday morning (Friday 5th June).
Cottingham Auto Care has been built over 30 years through his love of cars, his hard work, dedication, and commitment to his customers and friends.
Without him, there is no Cottingham Auto Care.
For Dad, it has been a place where he could spend time with people he cared about, share his knowledge, skills and understanding, lend a hand, and help others whenever he could.
Over the years, the shop became a community. People (and their dogs) came for advice about their cars, a treat or 2 🐾 and often stayed for a chat. Dad had a way of making people feel welcome, supported, and listened to. Following his cancer diagnosis, many people shared their own struggles with him, and he found great strength in the friendships and support that grew around him. In turn, he offered that same support to others.
Dad didn’t die from cancer, but the way he has lived with it shows his courage, resilience, and determination to keep living his life.
He was brave, caring, and endlessly generous with his time. Above all, he loved his family and he loved helping people.
We are unbelievable proud of him, but devastated by this loss.
From our family, thank you to everyone who supported him, trusted him, shared stories with him, and made the shop such a special place over the years. It meant more to him than you will ever know. ♥️
