The list of important things to look out for when buying just got bigger i'm afraid and the appropriate blog entry has just been amended. Probably people who are about to buy an NC don't read this page or the website blog, but nevertheless it's there if they do. This is the second in a row i've seen of this kind of er, (oh go on i'll be polite) 'mistake' made by vendors and it's expensive. What is happening is that one owner has the car re-mapped to run on 99 fuel, but somehow the new owners don't get to know this and put 95 in. The result is damaged pistons, bores, crank and bearings which is basically a replacement engine.

Another suitably modified 2.3 and that's the last car to roll out of Bulrush Mills now as i've closed the workshop and moved house. I'll just be doing parts sales for a while, whilst renovating an old farmhouse and building a new workshop here on the Pennines. Once that's done i'll probably return to doing more of the same. I think i'll have to to pay for it all 😅

Final shakedown for Hi**er at Croft, we were very lucky with the weather that day with only a couple of light showers just after lunch. It's a fine balancing act to get everything working well together on a car, now it's got a well modified 2.5 in it the 225 wide NS2Rs were useless so I won't be using those again. It was unbeatable in a straight line and pulled like a train, but we couldn't find much grip in the corners. The brutal mid range torque would throw it sideways if you weren't careful. Deposit now taken so it'll be on its way soon so mixed feelings there, I should imagine it's a bit like sending your kids off to school or University for the first time!

Next on the operating table will be this. It has the usual issues, but it's going on to be so much more in it's second life. It'll be totally worked over and made into a fast road and track car. Engine build with cams, remap & manifold, full suspension overhaul with new bushes, Meisters, uprated ARBs, 8 x 17 wheels, bigger brakes etc to our unique and highly successful recipe. Someone's gonna be having a shedload of fun this Summer 😀 More than me lol as I can't get time to work on me own car 😅

Double O six up from Devon for it's 110k mile service. Umm and a little bit of an engine build. The keen eyed new owner noted it going through umpteen litres of oil so kept it topped up. This in turn saved a lot of damage. With what we know now it'll go on to provide many more smiles for miles to come. Whilst the subframe is out it's a very good idea to bash out those rusted in suspension bolts while you can and reinsert with plenty of grease. So I did and it'll now get some fast road geometry dialled in. Thumbs up to Thrussington Garage MX5 specialists here, they've welded the rear cill sections up some time ago and made a very tidy job of it too.
