In the last 10 days I have Inspected a number 3-5 tons Renault type horseboxs and found some serious issues with build quality. Balk head between horse area very weak or not even have one. Some sides of the box are only made from 12mm GRP should be at least 18 mm if you are buying a box make sure it’s safe for you and your horse if anyone needs advice call me

This week I have seen 3 horseboxs with rotten floors one was covered up with thin alloy plate over a hole in floor where the horses stand. The other two is where the horses go up into the box at the end near ramp. The other problem I find is if the box is a converted box type sometimes the cross members that support the floor are rusted through or the cross members are to far apart so not giving support to the floor.
Why not have a good look this weekend under your box to check every thing is ok

I was inspecting horse box this morning the ramp was rather heavy. I wonder why.

This is a rear spring shackle on a iveco you can see that the bushes in the spring are badly worn as the spring is over to one side. This past mot a week before I inspected. If buying a box always have it checked even if it’s just past test.
