A huge THANK YOU to Neil & all at Port Seton Centre for having the idea for such a fabulous initiative 🙏 We're honoured to be able to support 🍎🍌🍒🍐. 🍎 Ever wondered where the fruit at the centre comes from? 🍌

A huge thank you goes to Shona and all at Links Road Garage, whose generosity helps make our Fruit for Friday initiative possible.

What started as an idea to provide local children with a healthy snack at the end of the school week quickly became a reality when we approached our Management Committee for support. Within 24 hours, Links Road Garage stepped forward and agreed to fund the project.

Since then, the initiative has grown far beyond Friday afternoons. Every week we see children racing from school, often with parents close behind, stopping to pick up a piece of fruit on their way past. It's also become popular with many of our other centre users, young and old alike.

The team at Road Garage probably don't realise the joy their support brings, but the smiles on the faces of the children enjoying a healthy snack tell the story better than we ever could.

👏 A massive thank you from everyone at the centre and all those who benefit from your continued kindness and support. You are making a real difference in our community. 💚

WONDERFUL NEWS 🙏 Lily has been found safe and well by a lovely family on holiday at Seton Sands Park. They used kindness and patience to encourage her into a cat container borrowed from Lothian Cat Rescue 💕 Lily's having a lovely tea and a last night at Seton Sands before her owner arrives to pick her up 🐱 Remember - ALWAYS keep the faith . . . NEVER give up hope . . . AND . . . Miracles DO happen 😻

This beautiful & gentle hedgehog was found collapsed on the pavement outside the garage earlier today. Still alive but poorly. No obvious sign of injury. The wonderful Links Veterinary Group, Haddington immediately offered help when asked and he was delivered there. Checking with them a short while later, he had sadly died. No idea what caused his death but between the loss of such a magnificent hedgehog, numerous deceased seals on the beach and far too many young gulls wandering about in the wrong place, it's been a sad several days. Please look out for wildlife in our community 🙏

Last night, a group of young people stole the fire extinguisher from the emergency cabinet on the garage forecourt. CCTV footage has been passed to the police, the extinguisher has been recovered from the beach although unfortunately, it has been discharged.
This wasn’t a harmless prank. Fire extinguishers are a legal requirement on garage forecourts, where they must be immediately available in the event of a fire or other emergency. By removing this equipment, those responsible potentially put staff, customers and emergency responders at greater risk until it could be replaced.
The extinguisher was also discarded on our beach after being emptied. The extinguishing agent released into the environment can contaminate the shoreline and enter the sea, where it may affect water quality and harm marine life. Our coastline is home to fish, seabirds and other wildlife, all of which deserve better than to have their habitat treated as a dumping ground.
If you know who was responsible, please encourage them to do the right thing and speak to the police. We all have a responsibility to look after our community, keep essential safety equipment where it belongs, and protect the environment we are so fortunate to have on our doorstep. Raging & bluddy furious doesn't come close to how we feel about such pointless & costly destruction.
